Hello,

I recently, (within the last few days), received a brand new KGO starter kit. The batteries are red. It is my second kit of the same type, (these batteries are silver), but from a different vendor than the first kit. Upon receipt of the kit, I immediately charged both red batteries for 8 hours even though the green light was on as soon as they were hooked up to the charger. The green light on the charger remained lit for the entire 8 hours while it was on the battery. I then put the batteries away until today.

This evening, one of my silver KGO batteries needed to be charged, so I grabbed one of the red KGO batteries to use while the silver battery, (less than a month old), was charging. I took the Stardust cart off of the silver battery and screwed it onto the red KGO battery. Hit the button.. and nothing happened. Grabbed another filled cartomizer that was on one of my Firefly batteries, and screwed that onto the red KGO battery - same issue. Nothing happened when I hit the button. So, I grabbed the second red KGO battery and had the same exact problem. Grabbed one of the carts that came with the Red kit, put that on first one of the red batteries - then on the other - neither would fire that cart, either.

Does anyone have a clue as to what might be the issue here? I have sent an e-mail to the vendor regarding the issue, but I was hoping it might be something very minor that I can do to make them work correctly.

Advice appreciated.

Thank you!!

Either they are flat (possible charger fault ?) or the batteries both have recessed positive terminals (not making contact with the carto)

okay, I performed minor surgery on them - got a pair of needle nosed hemostats and gently waggled and pulled upwards at the same time on the battery posts on each of them, all the while praying that I did not destroy them, and NOW they are working.

Soooo.. I guess that they are fixed, at least for now. I am glad. They are such a lovely red color :)

Well, the doggone things still are not behaving correctly. Though I can make the stardust, et al work on one of the batteries today, once they are on the battery the draw is like trying to suck a superthick milkshake through a coffee stir straw. VERY frustrating to me.

I have a call into the vendor. I do believe these pretty red batteries need to be replaced.

I spoke to the vendor today and I am to return the red batteries, and he will replace them with some new red ones. I asked that he please test the ones that he is sending to me to make sure that they are working properly before he pops them into the mail. I do not want another pair to frustrate me.

I do not think that they are bad because they are red, that is just how I differentiate them in my mind; by the color of the paint on them. I have a silver pair, and a red pair. The silver pair works perfectly - the red pair works not at all. And amusingly enough, I chose the red color because it is so pretty, tho I really, really want some purple ones quite badly :p

You can get an adapter for that. I have some batteries that certain cartos don't work on and the 510 shorty adapter will work. It's better if you don't have to use one but if it doesn't work, you can get an adapter.

I had some batteries that died pretty quickly and I think it was from prying the terminal up so often.

Well, the ones that I received as replacement batteries work just perfectly - and no adapter was necessary :)
Frankly, I do not see why one should have to purchase and adapter for anything that has the same threading as the battery. The batteries should work on them as they are without needing to purchase additional equipment.
If they do not, then the fault is with the battery and it should be replaced - period.
