Hello Catharlex The problem is the a7 . From the picks it looks like you only need to replace the spring . When you get a short in a mod the positive contact needs to be cleaned because it heats up and oxidizes . filing the tip will clean any oxidation buildup . You should ohm your atomizer before you use it on your mod

It was ohm'd. I had used it the entire day. (approximately 12 hours) This is far from my first rodeo. I hope it doesn't come off as rude, but I have my fluke to test every coil and battery I use.

I appreciate all of the help, I really do. This community of Reo Users is simply amazing.
I dont think your being rube at all . If it was the mod it would still be shorting . You should insulate the center post on your a 7 I cut a small piece of tubing and slide it over the center post of the atomizer . I do this for customers I dont care for the a 7 personally

I don't particularly care for it either; it's cheap and doesn't work nearly as well as my Nimbus and other drippers. I'm waiting on some ERA's right now though, so I'm making do with what I have. Thanks for the pic; I'll have to try that to prevent it from happening again.

I think the era is definitely a better choice very durable atty

Nerak (Karen) brought to my attention that the center pin on the A7 is wobbly. Sure enough, mine was (very much so). I cut up three ~ 1/8 by 1/8" pieces of a carto condom and wedged them in between the center pin and the threaded part of the connector equa-distant apart. Center pin is much more stable now.

Had a different RBA that I coiled and checked on a meter. 1.7ohm. Touched it and the ohms dropped to .07. Had to take it all apart. There was a little silicon washer inside that wasn't seated properly. If I'd vaped with it I'm sure I would have blown a spring too. I was just lucky I caught it on the meter.

Lol. I threw an A7 that I got from Sterno on mine and my spring lasted all of 3 minutes. Needless to say that A7 is getting tossed. Back to the good old ERA.

The A7 works great. If that center post on the bottom is stable, and you make sure it is not out too far, it is fine. I use 510/510 adapters on most of mine because the adapter has a solid center post.

I just ordered 3 more A7 Mini's. For an inexpensive atty they what I can afford in multiples.

One thing that people need to check on the A7 and Reomizer is to make sure the posts are on tight. I showed my daughter what can happen with a loose post by putting the A7 on the ohm meter and with it turned on I moved the post. The ohms were all over the place from 2.25 to 5.65. Everything in or on the RBA needs to be fixed solid or when it is on your REO you can get a short.

It's all good now. A shop an hour away stocks BF ERA's (the only US retailer if I remember right) so if they have any in stock (giving them a call in a few) I'll be making the drive over to pick one up. I'd rather not run the risk of ruining my only other spring.

But seriously. Thank you guys; I haven't seen a community on ECF be so quick to respond. I'm loving the Reo Grand (I love to drip) and I just need to get a better atomizer for it. I'm expecting the ERA to perform similar to my Nimbus.

Sorry to hear about your problems with my favorite mod and my favorite atty.

I can definitely see the stock A7 working sometimes, and shorting other times -- the center post is wobbly. However, after adding some support around it (what Rob posted, or teflon tape), filing the coil posts so they don't shear off your kanthal, and washing off all the stupid machine oil that it comes with, it's a very awesome RBA.

Adjustable positive connection
Adjustable throat hit (the closer the coil to airhole, the less throat hit)
Tons of room for wick
Lots of wick configurations (horizontal, vertical, cotton, SS mesh, silica)
Cheap
Shiny

Hello my fellow Reo users...

I just received a Reo this past Wednesday. It's been working pretty well (all things considered since I'm using an A7)... But literally 5 minutes ago it stopped firing. The battery seems to be falling out of the case when the door is out, and even when I force the battery to make a connection when the button is pressed, it will not fire. Have tried both AW IMR's and Panasonic's since this has happened.

Any clue?

I just received my Mini 2.1 yesterday, loaded up a carto, used it last night and this morning. When to hit it again in the car, on the way into work, and nothing. Is it possible the carto failed?

Check the battery, the button (to make sure it is not locked), and another carto. Usually it is one of these! New AW IMR batteries do not run on full cycle at first. They take a few uses and charges to get the best performance. Do not get them below 3.5. It is much better to charge sooner rather than running them down more.

I would bet money your carto failed . The mod itself wont stop working unless you short it and you would no if you did your battery would be rattling around in your mod .
