I ordered a starter kit from Instead, not sure what type of e-cig I have but it looks like a KR808, its automatic not manual, that much I know, I sent them an email to ask what kind I have. From what I am seeing on this forum, they may not tell me. Could someone go on their website and tell me what I have? The more I read on here the more confused I get, many types and flavors and everything. manual or automatic, drip or not drip, and on and on. I have had them for about 2 weeks now and still playing with them. I think they need an "e-cig for dummies book"

I'm not sure what model the Instead is. It definitely is not a KR808 (a two-piece model: battery plus integrated cartridge/atomizer). I can see from their website that the Instead is the more typical three-piece unit: battery, atomizer, and cartridge.

Also it is unlikely to be the Joye 510, since they also sell that model.

It may be the RN4081, about the same size as a 100s analog cigarette and often sold by mass marketers such as Smoking Everywhere (Gold) and njoy (NPro).

In a sense, there is an "e-cig for dummies book" (assuming that 'dummies' is not taken literally, but is a tongue-in-cheek way of referring to non-experts). It is only available online and here on ECF ... and is called The Wonderful World of Vaping. You'll find it in the ECF Library. [If you look at the author, you'll see that I wrote it. (Aren't I modest.;)) I did so for just this purpose: to provide that guide I wish I had had when I started out a year ago.]

Happy Vaping!

Hi Windpray. It is overwhelming when you first start, isn't it? don't worry, it does get easier. I'm going to recommend you read through a couple of threads, both are by DonDaBoomVape. He does an excellent job of explaining the differences between PVs (personal vaporizers) and he does a great job explaining a lot of the terminology and methods you'll need to know. First, start here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html That's part one of a six part series that is great to read.

Then read this one: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html

I know it's frustrating at first, but you'll soon be a pro!

Agree with bassnut about the pricing. If you're paying over $45 for a 510 kit, you're getting ripped off. I also wanted to make a point about this site's claim that 15ml of liquid is equal to 300 analogs. This is not even close in my opinion. A 30 ml bottle last me about 1 week to 10 days. That would mean I'm vaping the equivalent of 3 cartons a week, and that's ridiculous. I pray these sites stop making these outlandish statements.

As in everything I do, I jumped in and just ordered from one of the companies that advertise here. Not smart enought to know to check on prices or anything else but, what is done is done, I even ordered another kit from them so I would have 4 complete e-cigs and 2 AC chargers and 5 bottles of high nicotine (U.S. Juice). Figured U.S. juice would be better than some foreign stuff. Gonna have to puff on these for awhile...so if I understand ya'll the RN4081 isn't too good

Judging by the replacement atomizers they are selling on that website for the Instead...
It definitely does appear to be a RN4081 model.

Others are probably going to tell you different...

But I'm going to tell you that there is nothing wrong with the RN4081 atomizer.
The main problem with the RN4081 is that most people who get it are also using an automatic battery.

The main problem with automatic batteries is that they can be hard to figure out, hard to get working consistently, can stop working from getting juice inside, and can lead to a lot of general frustration that people blame on the electronic cigarette itself.

But really, the atomizer is a great little atomizer.

It does look like an RN4081. That was my first model, a gift from my husband. Prior to receiving it I had never heard of e-cigs. That unit did get me off of cigarettes though, so even though it was overpriced and not the best model out there, it was worth every penny. After receiving mine I then found this site. Soon after that I graduated to a 510. Not long after that I went for an eGo. (510 but a longer lasting battery.) If I had it all to do over I'd just start with the eGo, but as I said above, every penny spent so far, mistake or not, has been well spent, because I'm no longer smoking.

Keep using your RN4081. It was good enough to get me to quit smoking and it bought me time to learn about the wonderful world of vaping.

Windpray - I too am new to this and was also incredibly confused for the first few days. There are still questions I come up with every day. I found what helped me was this forum, YouTube on pv's and reading all I could on Google. I made the newbie mistake of finding this forum after I had purchased my first PV. I have currently made of couple of new purchases based on what I have learned particularly from this forum such as the Joye 510 which seems to be very popular and more of what I am looking for that my current model.
Don't be shy to ask questions, no matter how silly they may seem. Everyone here has been very kind and patient with my novice confusion.
Good luck and keep vaping.
Cheers.

Hi Windpray, Welcome! Wonderful name choice. As a 54 yr old, learning how to use my e-cig has been right up there with programing my first VCR, my first cell phone and my first computer. Lots of frustrations, but so worth it in the end. I didn't find ECF till I had been vaping for 4 months, so, you're already way ahead of me. Good Luck!
