What coils? The fruity flavors, I can understand :D
You and mr magic “Uncle guy” went thru step by step on my jurney , what flavors , not to use sweetners , and introduce me to geek vape devices , and also helped me with nicotine suppliers and on and on and on …. Always when I had question there was always an answer … either from you or “uncle “ ;)

sup.... i dont even know where to start .... so i will start here...

What PG VG should You mix ?
well ... I have learned here on forum from masters about coils and also mixing my own juice but I also started to research best of the best on Youtube for example from "DIY or DIE" guy... I like the way he explain things.. so here is a video about PG VG mixes enjoy

I appreciate your feedback. I actually bought 5 or 6 gallons of 70/30 3mg pre-mixed. I have seen a few of that DIY guys videos especially about flavoring. Hard part for me is if you watch anther content creator you get conflicting ideas. For instance IIRC they DIY guy says flavorings are best around 5-10% but I see online alot of recipes thats go clear above 20%. However I appreciate you providing me with usable resources.

when i started to mix first i watched this video, i will never forget that moment :) it felt like im in a lab school micro biology class :0 :) its so much fun with small adrenaline rush.... I use the same website for mixing and calculating the percentage for pg and vg and my separate nicotine and also flavors...

here watch this video ... it will help you a lot ! step by step...

now flavors..... very deep topic ..... its been a year and a half and im still testing and maybe half way done testing all my favorite mango, pomegranate, watermelon, mint, menthol , eucalyptus, rasberry , passion fruit ....... and hundreds different flavors from "bull City Flavors" Bull City Flavors - Largest Selection & Best Prices on Flavoring because in my opinion they have amazing prices specially with 15-20% off on labor day or black fridays or some other special days, sign up on facebook to see when are next deals and their shipping is just absolutely perfectly splendid fast!

I would recommand buy 10 flavors that you love but .... only with the highest and most rated reviews.. we are talking 200--300 people rated 5 stars then yes buy it, if its only 2-3 people no , skip it or take a chance but most of the flavors i bought and which were rated by 50-300 people 5 stars ... it really is top .... there is , for example Capella Brand -SweetMango"- for me its just absolutely amazing flavor mixed at 5% or Watermelon- Flavor Art brand mixed at 1% is to die for . the flavors you bought might not be great so please dont give up until you try extremally highly rated flavors by many people and for sure you will find something there that you love .

buy smallest bottles to try out and once you love it a lot then buy bigger bottles later to save money.

keep your pg vg juices in brown glass bottles which you can buy on amazon and throw it in the freezer so its always fresh for years.... and pour some to other plastic container just enough to last for 2 weeks and then refill if necessary this way it will last forever and be always fresh .

good luck and have fun with this, its amazing adventure. cheers !!!!! ;)

Thank you for taking the time to post a reply. I will take a look at sweetmango as IMO Mango is a flavor that could easily compliement any host of flavors. I have read on this forum about brown glass, do the solutions hold better vs. unopened plastic jugs? I have a few gallons so although it might be a bit of a chore to transfer it all... if it will help it last I will get brown glass shipped ASAP.

Another thing that i will add is please make always notes about how this flavor tasted you created because next week you wont remember stuff and the only thing to remember is to take detail notes about what it taste like now or in 2 weeks steeped or what you do? how much percentage on flavor you did? with flavor dont go more then its recommended by the brand, for example Capella (CAP) is mixed at 5% , some people go 15% i think its insanebut everyone is different , be carefull with Menthol brand FW Flavor Wes if You love mint scent because its very powerfull , I actually go lower then recommanded on that , also take notes about how much pg or vg you used on a created mix?

This way next future mix you can adjust to get it to perfection "YOU" love and wish to be. Without notes it will be long long long never ending testing.

another thing ... Sweeteners, forget about them they will mess up your coils , most of the flavors already has sweeteners in them try to not use it unless you dont mind spending .... load of money on coils and replace them every weekend.
Hmm I understand. Very interesting especially about the sweeteners, as I bought like 200ml of Capella sweetener as adding sweeteners seems very common in my search. I do use a RDA so I am not terrible concerned with "coils" as wire is cheap, and cotton is ridiculously so. I think I am only on my 3rd roll of Kanthal wire in 12-ish years? I definitely have had the note thing pounded into me. It seems most "reputable" authors/content creators suggest doing just that. I have purchased a few small notepads as I can fit 1 recipe per page and don't get tempted to clutter it.

Don't pay any attention to those.

Why? Very simple. You might prefer a flavor at 1% or 2%. I would recommend starting low with all your flavors. It is much easier to add more flavoring, if needed.

None of my mixes use any one flavor at 5% or higher. Too much flavoring will kill any mix. This is especially true when using any of the super or ultra concentrated flavorings. Every flavor manufacturer has potent flavors.

Using too much of any flavor can mute a mix. Or it will make it taste like total crap.

Yes, nicotine stores best in brown glass bottles. You are best off buying those in, 120ml size, for example and re-bottling your nic.

Then store your nicotine in a freezer. See this thread...
Nic Base Storage: Freezer vs. Room Temp Experiment

as adding sweeteners seems very common in my search
That's because a lot of people use sweeteners. Just because they use them does not mean the same as "they are needed" in a mix. Many flavors are sweet to begin with per the ingredients a flavor house uses. IMO you don't need to add a sweetener to an already sweet mix. But, some choose to do just that.

It is very rare that I will add a sweetener to my mixes. When I do, I'll only add 1-2 drops in a 30ml mix. I am able to make any of my mixes very sweet, if I choose, by only using flavors and no sweetener. Knowing your flavors will help you there.

I am not anti-sweetener. Sweeteners do have their place. But, certainly not in every mix. They are an additive, or a "tool", in the DIY kit. I cringe sometimes when I see how people use sweeteners in mixes. Using too much will kill a mix.

Would the same apply knowing that my PG/VG/NIC is already pre mixxed? I had to buy bulk premixxed as I am unaware of anyone who sells NIC in my state which has banned nic from shipping in or out of the state without approved business license. I have asked a few vape shops if they would be willing to "transfer" me just the solutions for a mark up and generally speaking I get the door slammed on my face for even suggesting it.

That is the best advice! Take lots of notes. Write notes about each flavor. What you like about each one and what you don't. What percents you used and prefer.

Make detailed notes about each mix you do and note any changes you make to those.

I have many notebooks full of DIY info from when I began doing DIY in late 2012. It's pretty funny looking back on some of my earliest notes. :D I still buy notebooks and take notes for every flavor I buy and every mix I create. Those come in handy.

Yes. In a freezer for long term storage. Many here bought dedicated freezers for their nic.

The last thing you want is your nic base turning to unvapeable crap down the road.

    Welcome Chiisaiinu

Make small trial batches so there is less to throw away or vape anyway if you are stubborn. I don't know if anyone mentioned it above, but get some syringes with blunt tip needles to measure small amounts.
Also, you can experiment by dripping different things right into an RDA. If I have a mix that isn't quite right, I'll put a couple drops of something or other into the RDA to see if it works.

Also make some unflavored liquid at the nicotine % you're going to use. If you make a batch that is good, but too strong, or put too much flavoring into the RDA you can dilute it down for a second chance. That's also useful to mix with commercial juice that has too much flavor.

I would like to thank you for the welcome as well as your advice. I have both 30cc and 5cc Syringes with a hose of blunt tips, as I have an affinity to scales(long story). I was thinking 10ml batches would be a good test size no? 10ml is a nice round number but still enough "volume" to sample it properly. Also I am going to sample them at different steep times so I can understand how the flavors evolve.

    Hiya folks,

I have been Vaping since 2010 however with the ban on shipping vape products in WA state prices have gotten downright silly. Locally the cheapest I can find is 100ml for $35 and thats almost triple what I was paying when I was ordering from online websites. I wanted to try to get into DIY, and so here I am looking for guidance. As luck would have it I was recently on a road trip and picked up 6 gallons of pre mixed(70/30) from a company in AZ. I also have about 2 dozen small(10-30ml) flavors that I kind of picked at random.

My biggest issue is not re-inventing the wheel. While experimenting is generally good, I would like to get my feet wet so to speak before I start wasting $$ on flavor abominations that should never see the light of day. That said looking online it seems like you cant get the same answer to a question more then once. Hoping I could find some wise individuals to guide my unsteady hands! Cheers!
Hi! I'm into DIY but I'm not confident enough to do it in big batches yet. Send me a message and I'll tell you more about what I've learned and how. I wouldn't want you to spend too much money on it up front even though DIY will definitely save you money in the end.

Flavour percentages in most recipes (not percentage of individual flavours but overall flavouring to base ratios) are very subjective. I have found that using around half of the total flavouring that's recommended works for me. It's easy enough to add more if required....
Buy some stick-on labels and write down everything - flavours, PG/VG ratio, nicotine, date, what you had for breakfast etc and stick it on the bottle. On the off-chance that you hit on a winning recipe you'll be glad you did....
Don't discard a mix if it's not to your taste initially - sometimes a week, month, year later it can become more palatable. Tobacco flavours especially.
Always remember that nicotine will change the overall flavour of the mix and decrease it's shelf-life. If you find a winning flavour combo try mixing just the flavours/base if you want to make a big batch. Add the nic later if possible.
