Hi,
I'm brand new to all of this (just started vaping about three weeks ago). Loving the whole experience so far, and am now interested in learning more about DIY e-juice. I think I've got my head around the basics, but could really use some guidance then it comes to flavorings brand vs brand, quality, strength, value, safety, etc... Iv'e read to steer clear of oil bases and to watch out for artificial colors, but just found that some of the Lorann flavors I already have on order have artificial coloring. Should I not use them?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Don:confused:

Who is your fav glassmanoak?
I use mostly The Flavor Apprentice. I don't find it perfumy as some people do. I also like flavorart and Vaping Zone concentrates.
I do a lot of shopping at ecigexpress and they have LOTS of choices.
Good Luck, deodon.. DIY is a great hobby and cheap in the long run but not short-term.

PS.. you should be able to post in the DIY discussion group

Here's a thread discussing oil based flavors:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...lavorings-vg-specifically-peppermint-oil.html
The link/ chart below is prolly what you want:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Alj8h1rcQwlrdHdrWnhUUEI1OXBLVTNaT25Fc0RZYmc&hl=en#gid=0
and here's a guide
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/74109-guide-diy-flavoring.html

Good Luck

Hey Damthisisfun, I have some of the "TFA" flavorings coming too. Hope they are alright....

Thanks for the input everyone

Does anyone know if there are color coded lists (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...plete-ingredients-list-lorann-flavourings.zip) like "Vapoor eyes er" posted above for the other brands?

Ok now I am confused. The file with list of flavors - if there is an "x" does it mean the company makes that flavor only? Or is it for the comment in that cell? I am assuming the Perfumers Apprentice is the same as The Flavor Apprentice (or is this incorrect?). I know The Flavor Apprentice makes Absinthe but there isn't an "x" in that cell??? Please clarify. Thank you.

If it's oil based it will be highlighted in yellow. X means the company makes that flavor BUT I don't know when it was last updated.

Don't be afraid to use them. They are actually really good, but I wish they didn't have dye or artificial coloring (not all of them do). My favorites are Strawberry, Raspberry, Butterscotch, and Banana Creme, all of which have dye. I am going to finish up what I have while I look for other Lorann flavors that do not have dye and hopefully somebody can steer us towards a chart for the ingredients of the other manufacturers.

I wish there was a line of flavorings that had no dye or artificial coloring. Or even that Lorann would start a line of flavoring without dye or artificial coloring. It would be really easy to do, they just have to skip that step! All these flavorings are manufactured for the food industry, at present, so they rely on the color as well as the taste.

Although the dye may not be good for you it is not nearly as bad as whats in cigarettes. Again, don't be afraid to use the Lorann that you have ordered but do try to find flavorings that are better suited to vaping in the future. I'm sure somebody will steer us to a manufacturer who provides the ingredient listings like Lorann does.

I guess I cheat. I order em from DIY e-cig shops that sell em. They are usually fairly inexpensive and I order nic-base and PG and VG too. They already did all the leg work to avoid the oil based stuff, etc. There are several good ones in the registered suppliers list off the main page. I have purchased some LorAnn flavors because I could get them locally, but mostly I just order in one "bundle" every time I want nic base or PG/VG.

Then again, I keep my DIY simple. Usually only one or two flavorings per batch. Right now, Grape with a touch of tart-and-sour.

There's a bunch of vendors with organic juice:
About Us | Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes
And the LorAnn Natural Flavoring:
