Brand new to vaping and the Volt. Having some problems, though.

A few weeks ago, I got some advice in this thread and ended up buying a Volt starter kit with the 78mm battery and their Strong Sampler pack of cartos. I'm kinda disappointed in the outcome, though, and wanted to ask some questions just to make sure I'm not doing it wrong. :D

1) The vapor is markedly less than I thought it would be. When the battery is totally charged, I'd say that the amount of vapor is "good", but still not quite what I was expecting. However, after a few minutes of use, the vapor decreases quite a bit and eventually I have to take very long drags on the ecig just to get a noticeable amount of vapor. Is this normal? On a side note, does anyone know what "base" the Volt juices use? Is it PG or VG? I heard that VG has better vapor, so maybe I just need to switch to that.

2) In addition to the vapor being "lower" than expected, the flavors are VERY subtle. I ordered a "Strong" sampler, but none of these flavors are anything approaching "strong". They're nothing close to smoking a full-flavored cigarette like I'm used to (Marlboro Smooths). Even with a fresh battery and a decent amount of vapor, the flavor is still subdued. I expected quite a bit more flavor. Is this normal?

3) I ordered the "low" nic strength but I can't detect ANY nic at all. No "hit" or "buzz" or anything. Is that normal for the "low" strength? Also, I was wondering if the nic strength was related to the vapor/flavor strength. Is my choice of the "low" nic causing the lower vapor and flavor strengths?

4) I'd say about half the time when I plug the Volt in (using the USB or the wall adapter) the light at the end of the ecig doesn't go on. There's a light on the USB charger that turns red and then eventually turns blue, but the manual said that the light at the end of the ecig should go on when charging, but it doesn't always go on, even when I know that it needs some charging. After a while, when the light on the USB charger turns blue, I assume that means that the ecig is charged, even though the light on the ecig never turned on, but maybe it's not charged and maybe that's why my vapor is so low sometimes.

5) There is a pretty decent tickle at the back of my throat when I take a hit sometimes. It's worse than an actual cigarette because it's not a "burn" it's a "tickle" and I end up coughing as a result fairly often. Is this what they refer to as the "throat hit" or is that not normal?

Basically, I'm looking to find out if these things are normal or if I got a dud or something else. I'd really like to give vaping a shot, but at this point, it's just not very enjoyable. Low vapor (most of the time), barely noticeable flavor, no nic buzz at all... hopefully there's something I'm doing wrong that can be remedied. Any advice would be appreciated.

It's 100% PG
Juice Components
Flavoring usually 10%
PG enhances TH, lung hit and flavor- water like
VG= vapor- very thick
Nicotine= TH, lung hit and our need for nic. The most important for TH and lung hit.
I, and many others, believe PG does not give TH but throat irritation. Si admits their juices are not the best. Good idea to buy blank cartomizers with 808 threading and fill your own with juice from elsewhere.
The Volt is a great PV. Problems you are having are with the juice- low mg/ nic and PG/ VG ratio is not good.

They have a lot of Volt users and also a company employee that can help you out.

I'm not sure about your led problem, my volt's led always goes on solid when I charge it then goes dark once it is charged up. The only time it doesn't go on is when I plug it in when it doesn't need a charge.

I agree that your problem may be with the juice selection. Another thing I've noticed with the Volt cartos is that after time they loose some oomph or get a more airey draw which can impact vapor production and TH. Have you tried a new carto?

Somewhere out there
If you want more vapor, just buy a small bottle of VG (vegetable glycerin) and a add a couple drops to your cartos, you will be in thick vapor heaven :) I always keep PG and VG around so I can tweak juices :) The Volt is a good slim style, if you are ready for more power, there are plenty of units you can try like the Ego Twist. For more nic hit get a higher nic level. If you chain vape get the lower level and vape all the time. Some juices taste better at higher nic levels for some reason to me, so that would a start to see if you like the flavor better at higher nic. bnrk

I've tried all five cartos in the sampler pack and they all produce the same results.

I have reposted this thread in the Smokeless Image forum here. Is there any way to close this thread?
