Hi all! :)

I'm a brand new vaper after several failed attempts to quit smoking via other means, and can't believe how well it's going! I started with a mystic disposable from Walmart, liked the concept but wanted better quality, and moved on to a V2Cig starter kit. I love the replaceable cartridge system, but the more I look into the vaping world, the more recommendations I see for 4 piece models and e-liquids. I have a cousin who swears by the Tornado, but have been holding off on purchasing anything new because I don't know that I'll like the hassle of dripping. Did anyone else start this way and transition to models like the eGo?

Hope this wasn't too "nooby" for a first post, but I appreciate all the help I can get!

I basically followed your path
Started with mistics, crapped out, bought a blu kit from a pharmacy, to hold me over, and within a week I moved up to an eGo-C
I highly recommend it, better flavor selection, battery life, vapor/flavor production, etc. the tanks do have some leaking issues(tiny amounts through the day) that are easily remedied by pre punching the holes at the bottom of the tanks. eGo-C variables are nice, but I skipped them and went straight to a Variable voltage, I guess you would call an advanced personal vaporizer, Vmax.
From experience, I can tell you the vmax and anything else in that realm was a little intimidating but I'll never go back. Part of the reason I love them is that they don't look like cigarretes, which keeps the thought of smoking out of my head.
So, if you don't mind the size, for a little more than the price of an eGo kit I could recommend an Apollo Vtube kit, a couple vivi novas, and you'll be in vaping heaven.

If you're not ready for that, the eGo-C is a great device, I have a couple of friends that still exclusively use eGo type batteries with the standard tank setup, and have been for years.

The way I reasoned with this was: in the long run, your ego batteries will die, ultimately, and again, this is long down the road, you will have to replace them. I went with the Vmax because this time around I was having a hard time quitting smoking (I've "quit" numerous times without a problem) I wasn't a heavy smoker, but I kept smoking, my vv device allows me to experience what I like out of what has become a lifestyle/hobby, with the benefit of staying smoke free.

I wish I had gotten acquainted with dripping earlier on, I too didn't think that I would be interested, however as you juice selection grows (and it will), it's nice to be able to try different things, before deciding to put into a tank that will last you three days, especially starting out.

I hope some of the more experienced members chime in, as you can see from my sig, im relatively new myself. Simply put, the eGo was great, I highly recommend it, if you think you might still upgrade shortly after skip it and go to a vv, I'm only familiar with the Apollo vtube, and Vmax, but they both have great reps

Anyway, best of luck:2c::2c:

Welcome Horse,
I'm surprised you didn't give up on vaping after trying a Walmart ecig, most have, there junk.
Any mall ecig is trash and very expensive to buy prefilled cartridges.
On the other end of the spectrum you have drip tips. In my opinion there the best for TH and flavor delivery. But I agree with you there just a pain in the .... to use. I use mine very sparingly.
there is middle ground like tanks and cartos. My friends love the cartos and I prefer tanks.
You need a refillable ecig so you can chose from unlimited flavors and nic levels

I'm a ego c guy but my friends love the stardust/vision cartos. less maintenance.

I've been using the ego-c since they first came out and highly recommend them! Before that I used the Tornado.

You say: "I have a cousin who swears by the Tornado, but have been holding off on purchasing anything new because I don't know that I'll like the hassle of dripping." I'm not a dripper either and I'm not quite sure how he uses the Tornado as a dripping device because it has cartridges.

Peeps have mentioned that you might want to jump to a variable-voltage device also. You can get a Joytech ego-c kit at Cignot and upgrate one or both of the batteries with a Twist battery that has the vv option.

Do let us decide what you end up getting, if anything!

A friend and I that started looking into e cigs probably wouldn't have bothered if the only option was dripping. Now, direct dripping does its advantages over a carto tank system, but I'd go with the tank. Dripping is cool to get that extra flavor from a juice, or to sample new stuff without committing to an entire tank full, but being able to fill a carto/tank and run it for a day or two without refilling is more my style. In short, I'd recommend an ego twist, with a simple 3.5ml carto tank system. Relatively cheap, big jump in quality over cheaper pv's, and it works.

I started with Blu and went to eGo, then Provari. Looking at the juice delivery system on the Tornado, I wouldn't recommend that. The battery is fine, it's just that the juice delivery system has had ALOT of leaking issues. I would suggest you start off with a battery and cartomizers. Cartomizers are a tried and true delivery system. The Tornado has a 650 mAh battery. What I would suggest is either the KGO (1100 mAh battery) or the eGo Twist if you are interested in VV. The KGO will be just alittle bit bigger than the eGo, about the size of a highlighter. But it will last longer than the eGo, and it will have a regulated battery (so your last vape will be the same as your first vape)

Elite Vaporworks KGO Starter Kit with Boge LR Cartomizers - KGO

If you want to try the Twist, the only place that sells it in a starter kit is sweetvapes.

eGo C Twist

Happy shopping! and Welcome to ECF!

I've been dripping for about 2 weeks. It's no where near the hassle that I assumed it would be. I don't do it exclusively and it won't change me from using Vivi Nova's , stardust's etc. but it is another great option.

Make sure you like the taste of carto's before committing to a carto tank setup. I hate the taste of carto's, so that isn't an option for me. Many people love them though. Lot's of individuality in vaping, and plenty of options, which is awesome.

Definitely go the variable volt route. I started with two Twists and can't imagine not having VV. The Twist is a very economical way to do it. I also have a LavaTube, another VV but larger and a bit more expensive. It's a fine device as well.

A beginner can't go wrong with a couple Twists, a couple Vivi Nova's and a couple Stardusts, and of course some quality juice.
