asdaq---that is sharp!!!:toast: Have you tried polishing that brass? I like that switch. I've been tinkering with those super strong magnets for making a switch.

What kind of duration are you getting out of that 14500 & what kind is it? I've tried the *fires with a booster & some will last a few hours, some a few hits?..?

Man, that is a nice mod, great job on it!!!

WB, nuck, sci, This really is pushing the limits boosting the 14500. A 510 3.2 (original soft top refillable) ohm carto works great and I really do get through circa 2ml a day on 2 batts, ultrafire like in the pics. Going into this I expected hopefully about 4hrs, but am lucky to get more.

But..... I tried my trusty janty 510 (from ego, I suppose a joye 3.2 ohm??) that is nearly 6 mos old, still works but is gunky (despite cleaning) and has built up resistance, and no response. Several tries occasionally got a little vapor but you can hear the booster whining. Testing a 18350, not noticeably better, still whining. An 18650 worked great, as did 5v regulated and the original ego batt, so the atty is still a keeper.

I've switched mainly to cartos anyhow, but wonder if I should stick with the 3.2 or try some 2.5's?

And right now I like the tarnished look, only thing shiny is the button

sci, this switch would be great with magnets, either a 3mm hole without the sleeve or 4mm with.

The boost whining happens when it is starved for current (it also shows when the bat get low and is a useful reminder to charge :) ). The best bet is going to be to stick with the higher ohm atties or better, using a high drain IMR 14500. The cycle time will be reduced with the IMR but it will be able to keep up with the current drain and will give you much better performance. The IMR will also be able to feed a standard 2.2-2.3 ohm joye 510.

Oh, 2.3 ohms for that joye. I suppose the 2.5 ohm cartos would be a bad thing here. IMR's require a different charger right? That part loses appeal, plus I am getting some more ultrafires soon.

The IMR's I tested were fine with the chargers I had, you just have to test to make sure they aren't overcharging. I tested the IMR from AW..not sure on other brands.

Hello, asdaq,

My coming to ECF was inspired by your and some other guys ideas here and I want to thank you first of all. I have seen another brass mods made by you, but starting here to ask for some history of your mod. Is it based on something or this is your idea? Anyway, idea is really cool!

Now I am trying to made something in steam-punk style you create (with Raidy's Genesis on board).

one first question -
- What are spings for? Does it helps battery not to fall out of contact or just to screw a whole construction?

Cheers J80,

The three are all converted for genisis now, I highly recommend. The start was with these http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/96119-my-little-family-leaners.html in PVC and aluminum. They aren't really modeled after anything but other dual tube mods. The little 2AA PVC was the best, I used it most of last summer. Real compact and lightweight, and with a LR atty it lasted all day.

This and the other brass ones are pretty much newer improved versions of the same. The spring is to hold the bottom plate on. It could easily be two springs, but bending one is simpler and adds to the 'exo' look. To open you press down on both domed nuts and unhook the bottom plate and remove the battery.

Cool, I guess you use brass as it is good conductor.
I have a look and understanding of genesis atty as this already described in some RU forums, where I am from.
So I've read almost all before asking questions and asking you :) Really impressed by your mods as they are so simple, crystal clear and functional. Nice idea with removing battery and holding construction at the same time. I will build something like yours if I can. But as I am not so good in mechanics, please let me ask you some questions while building. Try not to bother you until full deadlock

Thanks Alisa, I do have a replica like this one

but it is pretty worthless for modding sad to say.

That's a shame because it would be one of the best mods of all times. That thing looks fantastic. BTW, your brass creation would make the top of the list as well. I really like what you did with it.
