First off, I quit analogs altogether on Thursday, Jan 21st. For me there is no turning back. Yesterday, I broke one of my KR8s, and it ticked me off so bad, I actually smoked an analog. Yuck! I still have one to get me by until my 2nd arrives... but to replace these things every couple weeks or so because they're dropped or the microswitch goes out is absurd. That's where you guys come in: I need a solid PV that'll take the KR808D-1 Cartomizers (I have no will to constantly drip.). I've had my eyes on the Prodigy V2 from puresmoker with an adapter, but $100 seems a little high... I'd have to break 5 of the KR8s for it to pay off. Any suggestions? Besides the PV, the adaptor, and the charger, is there anything else I would need to buy? Thanks in advance!

Do you just want a mod with better battery life and durability or do you want higher voltage? This applies to me only... I tried 5 volt with cartomizers and it was just too harsh for me. Not to mention I went through 3 times the juice and burnt a couple cartomizers. Something I never did at 3.7 volts. However there are a lot of people that love cartomizers at 5 volts. So you need to be sure of what you want and what is important to you.

Personally if I was wanting a 5 volt tube mod I would look at the Silver Bullet over the Prodigy. If you want to stay at 3.7 volts and want that same look then the BB. But if you are wanting to spend less and do not care about that fancy machined tube look and are happy at 3.7 volts then you can do what I did and get a Bartleby.

For me it has been the perfect first mod purchase. I've had mine for 3 weeks and absolutely love it with the cartomizers. Read through the above thread. If you decide to go that way make sure to get a 510 connector and ask him to flush mount it so you can use an adaptor and cartomizers.

That's my two cents worth. I do wish you luck. It is a very tough choice when you purchase your first mod. There is so much out there and so much to consider. Best suggestion is read, learn and figure out exactly what you want and what is important to you before you spend the money.

May peace and joy fill your life, today and everyday!

Sorry, I can't answer your Prodigy questions. But, I'm curious about what happened to your KR808, since I use it myself. When you dropped it, the battery died on you? If so, was it like a belly flop onto concrete or something as traumatic as that?
I dropped mine onto a concrete floor with a thin layer of carpeting. When I attempted to press the switch, I didn't get the tactile click and it didn't light up. Being the tinkerer that I am, I disassembled it and found that the switch's circuit board is held to the housing with hot glue.

I'm not really interested in higher voltage so much as durability.

What's a BB? I like the look of the Bartleby. The vapor looks killer. Are they durable?

...will it come with the adapter? If not, where do I get one? I feel like a total noob.

Thanks a bunch in advance for the help!

We were all new once and I'm still new myself. The BB comes from altsmoke.com same people that make the Silver Bullet. They also carry the 510 to 808 adapters.

The Bartleby seems very durable. Read that thread, it explains how it's made better than I can. I've dropped mine, I'm shamed to say, a few times already with no bad effects. I have hard wood floors, no carpet. It's a rugged baby. Personally I even like the look of it and it feels good in the hand. The tube mods did not hold an attraction for me as far as looks go. I wanted something I could stick in my pocket easily. Like I said, the Bartleby fits me. Only you can decide what will fit your needs and wants.

I know you want to get something as quick as possible, but I really can't stress enough for you to take your time and read and learn before buying. Especially if you can't afford to spend money and not be happy afterwards.

Another thought: would I need to constantly drip if I weren't using cartomizers? Reason being, I like to vape while I drive. I also like to be able to pull out the PV at a concert and vape without needing to fumble with a dropper.

You are going to want to stick to cartomizers. I'm like you, I don't want to drip and I don't want to fuss and mess with it constantly. I love cartomizers. I go through about 2 a day and refill at night for the next day. I don't mess with them in between except to change to a fresh one when the first one starts getting dry. The Bartleby I stick on the charger twice a day for about 20 minuets each time and it's ready to go again. Of course with the Bartleby you can vape and charge at the same time. If you can't be by a charger the two batteries that come with it should give you more than a days worth of semi heavy vaping. Of course it depends on how hard you hit and how often.

Charging's not much of an issue... I'm a computer tech. The notion of a passthrough is genuinely appealing, though, as I'm ALWAYS in the vicinity of a USB port. I appreciate all the help, and I'm genuinely interested in the Bartleby. I'd like to break even vs analogs with all of this, so I'm going to research between now and payday and see what I turn up with.

It you have the ability to make a mod, go to madvapes.com and he has all the parts and a great how to section on how to build one like the bartleby. You can use the connector from your battery as the commector on the mod then you dont need an adapter. Check it out, fun and cheap if you have the building know how.

Cybervex (I think that's how you spell his user name) does what he can with special request. You can email him and ask.
cybervex@gmail.com

The inside of the bartleby is incased in epoxy. I don't know that any of it could come loose. The battery is the only thing that moves on the inside.

Hope I helped at least some. Like I said look around and learn and compare. You'll know what's right for you. You already have an idea what you want, such as durability, cartomizers, not overly expensive. Heck building your own may be your perfect answer. There's a Modder's section here on the forum you may want to check out also, lots of good info there on building mods.

once you get to a certain number of posts, you will see a 'edit' button down where it now says 'quote'.

anyway, You might also want to look at the 905 mod. SaveaSmoker and VaporCountry have them., take a rechargeable li-ion AAsize battery, have a master on-off as well as the intermittent manual button. Casing is steel. Takes cartomizers. Runs around $60. (make sure you're getting version 2 or 3 - ask)

You might also want to contact the vendor you bought your KR808d-1 from - most have at least a 14 day warranty on defective batteries.

Hope this helps!

That was my second choice and I'm still considering one at some point. Can't have too many PVs. My understanding from other users is that you do need a 901 to 901 adapter to use the cartomizers. Something about air flow and not being slotted. Makes no sense to me LOL, but I'll take their word on it. It takes the same batteries as the Bartleby is another reason I've looked at it.

Good suggestion!! I'm glad someone else came on. I was beginning to sound like the Bartleby pep squad :)

todmacher, Sounds to me like your ready to make your first box mod.

I agree head over to MadVapes and buy your self parts for a box mod.

Be sure to check out the How To Guides over there. They got Step-By-Step instructions with pictures.

Or check out the NicoStick thread here in the battery mod forums.

I thought about it, then decided that the replacement cost was worth the autopsy and reverse engineering.

The way it's looking, guys, is that I'll be purchasing a bartleby and using it as an example for future custom builds.
