Question for those living in more urban settings. How much currency are you keeping in your b.o.b.? I have $20 in ones, 20 in 5s, 50 in 10s and a roll of quarters. Not sure if it's a waste or useful and if I'd be better off investing in a few fuel containers and fuel. My emergency plan is to basically run .... run as quick as my f150'll take me since being the prepared guy in an unprepared area means dealing with leaches and other issues. I am working on making the house more "barricade in" friendly but since I'll be buying another house soon have shifted focus a bit lately.

I would say that there is more of a chance of you using the bag in a "natural disaster" sense vs as a "zombie" bag, so the more you can afford to pack into the bag, the better. In 2004, when Florida was hit with all of the hurricanes and we kept losing power for days and days each time, cash was king, because the stores that did open could not run credit or debit cards. People that needed to buy tarps and generators used cash. Also, no power means no ATM's.

Keep in mind that during a natural disaster, zombie outbreak or economic collapse, prices on goods will sky rocket. There were reports of price gouging during the hurricanes and rumor had it that a bag of ice cost $10, before the red cross and the government stepped in.

Our hurricane plans in Florida consisted of 4 different households. Each group had at least $1000 on hand- $500 in large bills, the rest in smaller bills, just in case. Fortunately, we never had to use it because we had everything we needed.

I say pack away as much as you can comfortably afford. It never hurts to have cash on hand, and if you keep to paper money, it doesnt weigh much. You are doing it the right way with having lots of smaller bills vs having lots of larger bills.

As far as you using a vehicle as a means to travel, definitely invest in fuel containers and fuel. Having cash on hand, and no place to purchase fuel will not do you any good. Figure out the distance you plan on travelling, divide that by the MPG and then triple it. You wont be getting the highway mileage you are used to getting. Plan on spending lots of idle time in your vehicle, extra time and fuel making your own highway because the regular highway will be a parking lot.

Sooner or later, the fuel will run out. Make sure you have plans the the means to travel on foot, carrying everything you need. After a certain time, ANY moving vehicle will be a target, not only to the undead, but also to other survivors. Unless you have the man power and firepower to defend it, plan on leaving the vehicle behind.

Here's the pictures of the weed-wacker line cleaning kit. For what it's worth anyway.

Had some extra time to kill and decided to try this. Freaky, I have officially replaced my gun cleaning kit with these. I made 2, but will make one for every caliber I plan I carrying as well as having some extra string to make more. Great idea that works perfectly on the cheap

Glad it worked for you Mutt! Easy and light for a BOB. I just need a better way to carry cleaner. One of my plastic bottles leaked all over. It was fine until one day I was getting dizzy and it smelled like somebody was cleaning a gun next door. The threads must have had a small leak, and once the fluid got to the other side, it just started running out. For emergency, I was thinking something multipurpose like WD-40 with the collapsible cap.

I dont know if you were a Zippo user when you was a smoker, but I always carried back up fluid in a zippo fluid canister. It never leaked and would probably work for gun oil. I might have 1 or 2 somewhere if I can find it.

I was a Zippo user for 23 of the 22 years I smoked. However, I have never seen one of those. I like it a lot though! I've got errands to do this weekend, so I think I'm going to be stopping by the smoke shops. Thanks for the tip! :thumb:

PM me your address...I found one I will give you
