Just finished making a dna 40 mod using a friends dead Hana clone, used the Fatdaddy V4 low profile - it looks and works really well, much better than the Varitube low profile in my opinion.

I also used the M10 drill bit/tap and die combo which also came from Fatdaddy, saved an awful lot of hassle.

Looks great! I like the patern on the landing pad. I am very happy with my Varitube 510 but that looks pretty:)

Screen was fuzzy and locked up before this problem. They should replace it or I'll be ....... Anyways broke it all down resoldered 510 and ground and looked over everything... Looks fine. Come to the conclusion that's it the board.

One of my DNA 40 boards got jacked up and they responded within a day. They sent me the RMA form so I desoldered and packaged it up this weekend.

Probably depends on their email traffic and whenever they get time to answer all incoming emails. You got lucky ;)

Oh my god, that's exactly what I've been wanting to do. Nice job man, looks killer! Sorry to just jump in here with a question (didn't read the whole thread, quite long) that's probably already been answered.

But; is the DNA40 chip the same size as the DNA30? Like, I wouldn't have to do any modifications to the fasttech Hana clone case? Also, did that 22mm fatdaddy 510 just sit right in there like that with no extra modifications?

Thanks for the help, once again nice job. That's pretty much exactly what I'm looking to build right now.

For a ft dna 30 enclosure I though some of yall might like to see a 3d print I ran across after I started looking after reading this thread, I went ahead and placed an order thru Sculpteo after speaking to the creator.
'FT C-Hana assembly' | 3D Printing | Sculpteo
He also has it on Shapeways but it sounds like their QC went down hill
https://www.shapeways.com/product/UTEZCDUVJ/hana-kit-assembly?optionId=55099088&li=cart
He had mentioned that once he picks up a dna40 with the large display he will update the file geometry
Sorry for the dumb question... but what exactly am I looking at? I thought the FT enclosure was already set up to drop a DNA chip inside. Not really sure the benefit of this 3D printed product.

Also, is the screen on the DNA40 chip bigger than the DNA30 chip? Like, the display section?

I've got some Hammond boxes and parts to make some unregulated boxes, but have been recently wanting to make a regulated box mod. The fasttech enclosure would be perfect for me. Not sure if there's much a difference in throwing a DNA40 in there apposed to a DNA30 like it was designed for.

DNA40's comes with mounting rails but you can cut it with a clipper and it will be same as DNA30's.

You might need a tap fdv 510 v4 low profile into enclosure, other than that no extra modification needed to make it flush

It's wider but it actually fits a tad better as it's practically the same width as the slot.

The FDV V4 low profile sits about .5mm below the top of the box as opposed to being flush, I think this makes it look a little nicer.

This chip mount works great for the Hana clone builds. It pretty much holds the board, mounts the screen, and drops right in. Only a little alignment and it centered on the display hole.

The DNA40 display is the same as the DNA30, unless you get the new 40s with the larger screens. The board is a smidgen thicker and has mounting rails. These, once removed, makes the board the same size as the DNA30.

I used that same cradle on my latest build :) Only thing I got the one with the charge board holder. DNA40 Adjustable Combo Cradle by sanjosse on Shapeways
The cradle is fine But the charge board part not so good. The legs are flimsy and I had to epoxy the charge board part in to get it to stay still and work right :(

With the amount of pressure that charger board is exposed to, glueing seems the only option. Last time I did a build, it was a temporary one so I decided to use hot glue and even that started to move a little after only a week.

Cement it with epoxy I say :)

Loctite has a gel based superglue that works great. It will fill small gaps and hold REALLY well. Make sure it's where you want when you glue it. You can move it a little but it sets up really quick. I used it building an SX350 mod a few months ago.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

I have 2 charging boards that are hot glued and they haven't moved in over a month.

Interestingly, the reject Cloupors' charging board's LEDs don't change to green when fully charged. The mini clone changes to green and so does the FC hana clone. (I have 8 usb charging boards pulled out of mods, 3 in use).
