I would think So. The chip needs too be secured one way or another. What if the mod is accidentally dropped. An impact like this would definitely cause problems with a loose chip in the mod

One thing I've just been wondering about, does the board "need" to be epoxied into place? Particularly on this enclosure, with a separate compartment that's covered, is the chip really going to move enough to jeopardize the solder points or screen ribbon?

On one hand I can see exactly what you are saying, on the other though I was just thinking that compartment is pretty tight and most wires (if ya left a bit of excess length for slack) are a bit stiff and could possibly absorb any shock if dropped thus not jarring the chip as much. It was just a thought though, figured I'd throw it at the wall to see if it'd stick lol...

Nice to see some interest in building a mod with this enclosure. I ordered one it should be here next week I am going to use an authentic DNA 30 Chip and charging board.
My own single strand copper wire and a fat daddy 510 I like the tactile switches But are there any other options other than glueing them in?
Another quick question how is everyone attaching the screen/ Chip to the enclosure? Just glued in place?
I was thinking a Shapeways cradle and DNA Screen Bezel.
Any thoughts on this?

I'm using a genuine chip too, I really wouldn't bother with cloned electronics.

Use epoxy for the buttons as hot glue is flexible and it lifts fairly easily, I'll use a small amount of hot glue to secure the edges of the board - there's no pressure applied to the actual chip so it should be nice and secure. The rubbery nature of the hot glue also acts as shock absorber/cushion for the board.

Use epoxy for the usb charge board - this really needs to be secure.

Thanks for the reply :) I will definitely use epoxy for the switches. I have a Shapeways DNA chip holder and a screen bezel. If they fit I am considering using them for the chip and screen, this way I will not have to use any glue or epoxy on the chip and screen :)
I also have a charging chip bezel from shapeways. I have used these before in hammond boxes and a little dab of epoxy on the chip holds it nicely.
With any luck I will have every thing I need this week and next weekend I can put it all together.
I will post some pics of the finished Mod :)

I could be causing myself trouble in the future but to mount the screen I use a piece of electrical tape. Cut the tape so that it covers the entire back of the screen, slide the screen into place and press the tape down around the edges. I also secure the board in place using a piece of double sided foam tape placed across the back of the screen and then press the board gently down on that. Probably not a good idea if the box gets left in the sun but then again it isn't a good idea to leave the battery/filled atomizer in the sun either.

Nice screen Cradle here:
Fluid Vapor

That screen cradle would be too large for this box. Here's the one I'm using from shapeways.....http://www.shapeways.com/model/1767...tm_medium=email&utm_campaign=payment-received

It dose fit but it's a very tight one.

I was going to put a DNA30 in the Cloupor box (I believe it's the same dimensions as the FT box), but decided on the SX-350 chip for the better regulation and protection. Fit well in the box, but a dremel and some small files were needed for the screen opening. Worked really nicely though and I'm very happy with the mod. Just another option for the box kit.

What gauge wire did you use for the battery and 510?
