That is my first post. So hi everybody.

Im vaping for almost 1.5 years now. Most of the time with premade atomizer like evod, protank, etc.
Now i wanted to make the next step. I bought a rba the ithaka.
Wonderful device. Well made.

Sadly i cant get a decent vape on it.

My Setup is as follows:

3mm Silica
1.5 Ohm Premade Ribbon Wire. 0.08 x 0.4mm, Length 38mm

Im trying to build a single X-Coil.

My mod is an itaste svd.

It vapes but quite low @ 8.5 Watts. Even at 9.5w low vapor. And it is starting to taste a bit burned.
I have basic feeding closed. juice Control half opened. air control fully open.

I have some basic questions.
How close do i have to put each wrap? close as possible?
And How much force do i have to use when wrapping?

Thanks for helping me out :D

And excuse my bad english.

thanks for reply mate.

what about the distance between the wraps?

I personally never liked ribbon wire. I never tried it on silica though, only on genesis ss mesh.

That aside, you have two options when it comes to the distance between the wraps.

1: Coil them pretty close to one another but make sure no wraps touches the next one.

2: Using normal wire (not ribbon), coil then as close as possible, and have every wrap touch the other ones. This is called a microcoil and used it conjunction with cotton wicks, it will give you the best possible flavor.

EDIT: In both cases you want to make sure that each wraps touches the wicks, but not to much, you don't want to strangle the wick.

No distance between wraps! Micro coil. Why complicate it if your not getting results. Do a single. Coil wrapped on 3/32 or 5/64 drill bit don't remember which as I'm on cotton now. , you should be able to thread 3 mm silica into it with little resistance. Use the other channel with a 3mm blank silica. See if you get it performing like that .

On the coiled 3 mm cut all but 2 or 3 strands of the silica flush with the top channel and drop the other strands down the sides. Gives good wicking without flooding.

I'm not sure how they're getting micro coils in an ithaka.... I'm sure it can be done though. I've noticed a break in period with the ithaka, though. Im also unsure of a single x coil...it takes a dual coil to make an x, no? Personally, I prefer a single coil wicked with cotton yarn in my ithaka. I wrap the coil on a nail then pull a double strand of cotton yarn through it using a small piece of kanthal. Works really good.

Not to be harsh but He may still think it will cause a problem If they are touching. Video may be old..

Here's an example of 2 , 32g wires wrapped side by Side to a total of 24 wraps or so @ about 2.6 ohms . No Shorts, hit really hard and hot. Just an example. Heated evenly too.

This is just a straight 32g micro around 3ohms, really cranks out vapor on a vv pv.

nice coil mate. maybe i will try this micro coiling too in the future.

i was able to do some decent build now. I dropped the ribbon wire approach.
Currently running 4 Wraps of kanthal D 24g. Putting the Wraps as close as possibly at somewhat tight around 2x3mm silica.
Resulting in around 2 ohms. With 8.5W a get some decent clouds of vape. Taste is also good.

But when i chain vape the liquid flow is to low i think.

Im vaping 50/50 liquids. Shouldnt be to thick i think.
Im currently have the juice control a little under the half open.
Some advice on the Juice flow for me ? :D
