OK, I know this has been done many times but maybe not like this?? I know this is pretty much what you can buy from any of the vendors but I did it for two reasons.

1. I like building stuff on my own:p

2. I'm very IMPATIENT when it comes to ordering stuff...besides. Im heading out of town tomorrow morning and figure it would be nice to have some nice 5+V of USB power while Im killing time in my hotel room

I took my extra battery and removed the cell and used the threaded connector for my 901. Went to Rat Shack and got these little 9.5 mm high tact-switch (pn# 275-003)

I wired it all up first to make sure the little switch would handle the current as the package only says 50ma. There are two leads for each side of the switch so I used both to double the contact to hopefully handle the current draw (I tested the current draw with my meter and blew the 315ma internal fuse so I guess it draws more than that ...lol))

So far seems to work well so Im not too worried.

I drilled a small hole in the barrel of the 901 battery tube for the head of the tact switch to pop out of. I had to trim small amount off just to get it in there and once the switch was in place I placed a small piece of nylon I cut from a zip-tie so as to sort of prop the whole switch assembly up and make the button protrude out of the barrel.

I used one of the caps from a cartridge for the end of the USB wire to come out. (notice the strain relief). I put it all back together and gave it a fresh coat of satin black paint.
