Hello. I just finished dissecting and performing surgery on another deceased m402 battery. I plan to do a USB Passthrough variation for this style and another. I have all the parts necessary I believe. I just need a bit of help figuring out the finalities of the wiring diagram. I have never used a SPST Tact switch before, and am unsure of how to wire it. If I had a way of metering current, I would be set, however I am attempting to mod with what I have currently available.

Essentially It will be a USB passthrough, with Tact, and LED. Fairly simple, however I am fairly new to modding and wiring schematics.

Here is the switch I have. 5.0mm SPST Tactile Swtich, ala RadioShack.

If anyone could assist me with a diagram I would be most appreciative. Thank you! Happy modding.

:D

the ground is made by stripping the paint off the case and soldering it on the bare metal of the case.

Thank you very much Ainako. I have read countless posts of Bastages', and somehow missed that thread.. I have been thinking of doing something similar to that as well. However that will be the next addition to this design I believe.

I suppose I should have been a bit more specific. I do not want to give the whole design away just yet, but it is not going to be in a regular battery casing. That is also planned to be used in a different mod.

I plan to only use the male connection I separated from the battery. It will be in a housing of plastic, so no ability to grind and ground.

Also I want to wire an LED into this unit, so it activates when the switch is pressed and the atomizer kicks. The diagram did not have an LED in it. Will I need a resistor for the LED, or will it be self resisted? Will I need to alter the voltage, or can I take it straight through the switch, and LED?

The switches I have are not 5 prong grounded Tact switches. Only four prong. Do these still need to be grounded? I am guessing due to the USB power?

Sorry these questions aren't all directed towards you Ainako, just anyone in general. Thank you VERY much in advance!

Cekte here is a thread i started about building a battery pack that has an led. There is some info on LEDs and resistors from Madog.

I don't think you will need to ground the switch. Just wire it inline on the positive feed to the battery/atomizer connection.

As for grounding, you will have to have some kind of thread for the atomizer to connect to. As long as the ground is connected to the outer part of that connection it should work.

Great. Thank you for the link UK. Im heading to that now..

By chance are you familiar with the four pole SPST Tact switches? It has four prongs, so Im a bit unsure as to how exactly to wire it in line.

If anyone by chance still has a diagram, or is gifted in MS Paint ;), please feel free to offer anything you might deem of technical value. It is greatly appreciated!

The 4 prong ones I've used have a funny set up. The contacts will be made on a diagonal.

So if you look at the switch in any direction, the top left tab will make contact with the bottom right tab when the button is pushed. But find someone with a multimeter to make sure. Mine might have been different. I got mine out of $1 LED lights and laser pointers. Looks the same though.

Youfillintheblank, Thank you very much. That is most helpful.

For this vape I believe I may need higher Tact Switches actually. But I would imagine the contacts are still the same configuration.

I will be going out today to get a multi-meter, and some 100 ohm resistors for the LED.

Cellmeister, Thank you for the confirmation of the contacts in the four legged Tact switches.

So if they are diagonal, I still do not quite understand why there are two pairs.

Thank you very much for the advice everyone. I am headed to Rad Shack now. If anyone as anymore info, keep it comin. Thanks!!
