that used to be around the middle of october. wonder why they pushed it out?

Yeah! I'd love to meet up with you sometime, girl! I think we could have a lot of fun vaping together, especially since you said awhile ago that you do the EVOD now.you could be right - i believe the event has been at the clarion in the past and this year maybe that time slot was taken? richmond is pretty busy with conventions all year round. i don't think it's a sports event. nascar is the only big game in town .........
i have not gone - i hate that ride to richmond. almost 3 hours of nothing ........
i much rather head toward raleigh/durham but lynchburg is very doable![]()
sure hope the next round will be easier on you, (((br)))!
is there any way you can work with a magnifying glass while machining?

BR, I admire you. You're one tough bird! Hang in there!!!Thanks hon. I will call it quits if the next rounds are not easier.
I am already working under large magnification lamps, lighted headband magnifying lenses, jeweler's loops, etc. Don't know what else to try.

The doc said he was going to kick my .... for the first two weeks of treatment and he did. His foot was a bit too heavy though, and I wound up in the hospital last Friday. Got home last night and doing fair today. We'll start again next week and he promises things will be easier. I won't believe that until he proves it, heheh.
I'm still trying to stay busy with cartomizer design and builds. However, I may not be able to do it for long. My eyesight is failing rapidly and it is becoming very difficult to machine the smaller parts. I don't know how bad I'll feel later on and right now I am trying to build an update that can be used just in case my favorite one fails. I have earlier builds that may get by in a pinch, but I hate the thought of having to use them.
But then, the new design will get its air from the top instead of through the bottom and it may be a failure. Hopefully it will get finished and I'll find out.

It has been a long time since I have used Carts but got these Smok shorties that were recommended in a co-op and I wanted to see if they had gotten better. No way. I soaked a few in my juice for half an hour and set them on three new twist batteries at 3.2v and 2ohm. The first after 4 min of vaping started giving the dreaded poly burn flavor. the second started giving me some poly flavor at 30 minutes and the third at 10. I topped each after every 5 draws and one was in a tank, they were always very wet. In my tests a few years ago I took apart over a hundred used carts that were sent to me by other vapors and many of those pics are on another thread. Here are some pics of a shorty after ten minutes of use.
Diaper and filler burnt thru.
The diaper material seems different on these then the ones I used to take apart. They used to be just plain 100% cotton cloth like from a handkerchief. In my 70 years I have probably only had 5 or 6 headaches, but vaping these poly fumes started giving me one, so I quit.
Needless to say I will not be vaping carts, they are no better or maybe worse than a few years ago. Have no idea what the diaper material is now.

Don't you have like a two-lifetime supply of homemade cartomizers by now?![]()

If you look down into a wet cart as you fire it and see a red coil, you got a bad one and just burnt some diaper and poly. The diaper was not well wrapped around the coil and there was air between the diaper and the coil that caused a hot spot and burn.
BJ, I don't know how you are testing your cart, but if you look down in it as it fires, you should never ever see a red coil. Bad one or not. A red coil is a dry coil and anything near it that can burn or melt will do just that. I do not believe it is possible for a wet coil to approach this temperature. That is, not in a complete properly loaded out of the box PV. I do know as fact that some of us on this thread either have or have been using these types for a few years without a trace of an actual burn. But then, I see red in mine every week or so, heheh. That's when dry burning a coil in a filler-less cartomizer to remove a crud buildup.
I can't see your avatar well enough to know for certain, but it appears to be a Little Bird. I used to have a few of them and competed in Concours d'Elegance on local, region, state, nation and international levels. Those were some of the best years of my life.
