I was tooting around in town last week and - wouldn't you know it - all my batteries died.. The ones for PVs, that is, not the car!
So anyways, here I sit, nothing to vape, and that's not too kool, you know?
I went into the nearest gas station/convenience store and picked up one of those disposable e-cigs. Ha! Now I haven't vaped one of those for like 2 years, so anyways, the first thing I saw was that their price went from $21,- all the way down to $8,- for one.
Hmmmmmmm. So I bought an 'njoy' Bold Flavor one.
It came in a small plastic case that kinda looked like a cross between a ciggie lighter and a pack of smokes.
Took it out and started toking it.
Nice vapour, good taste. Well, they've come a long way in 2 years with those things. The package said it would last for about 2 packs of analogs.
OK. But after about an hour of toking it off and on, the battery started blinking. Not kool.
So I called the company and the customer service rep said they were sorry and would mail me another one.
I was impressed with that attitude. This is a company that stands behind their product...

Tibs, am I right in remembering that you said you live in Virginia?
I lived there for 32 years until I joined the Army. And my family lives there, in a backwards town called 'Lynchburg'.. So anyways, I'm planning a trip up there to see them come this January.
And is there anyone else here who lives in Virginia?
Maybe we could have a 'vapefest' of sorts??

I've left few posts with burned cartos pics all ready here but still didn't find an answer to what is the carto diaper (the cloth wrapped around the coil) is made from. it is a big consern to me. Every Boge carto I open has burned diaper and it seem it burns regardless the Votlage setting.
I've been vaping (tanked) Boges 2.2 ohm at only 3.8V and still get burned diaper. It puzzles me what the diaper is made from since I can never taste any burning. I took the diaper out, set it on fore, it burned with black smoke/charring but it didn't smell much. If it was cotton it would have a typical cotton burning smell, if it was plastic it would have a strong chemical smell. So what the hell is it? Even if it was cotton, ihaling burned cotton is probably not a good thing either, I don't even want to think about inhaling plastic. China carto makers know what it is but there not a word about it from them which is suspect to me since every time something is harmless, the manufacturer plasters it all over everywhere to increase sells.

Hey Tibs!
Yeah I wanted to come up next month or October, but as things with family would have it, can't make it til January. I guess it's going to be like any other party I have - for one.. LOL
Just like last night - I wanted to have a few good stiff drinks, dance, and just chill out.
Nobody was down for that, so I did the 'party for one' thing! LOL
Back to Topic..
Vaptor, I wondered that myself - just what are those diapers made from. Seeing they all come from China, I'm almost afraid to ask!
What I find interesting is, in my experience, I found the CE-2 cartos vaped the best; however, with the newer models out, nobody sells them anymore that I could find. Yet, go into any store that sells e-cigs, and that's about all that's available - diaper-and-wadding, especially the disposables and blister pack ones. I guess they're for noobs wanting to try vaping.
Might I suggest one of those CE-5 cartos. They're made for tanks and there's no diaper in them. They bottom feed. The EVOD BCC is one that's already put together for you. It also has a replaceable 'heater coil'. I've been doing 2 of them for almost a month now and I think they're wonderful.
However, I'm with you - I would like to know what the 'diapers' are made from too!

Hi Vaptor!

The little diaper is made out of cotton--it has been tested in a lab--long time ago. The rest of the filler is some kind of polyester.

I'm still using my Boge cartos and haven't burned one in a long time--you really have to keep them saturated at all times lest they will burn. Even one single dry hit will burn a hole in the diaper, which is in almost direct contact with the heating coil. If you're burning tanked cartos, examine the holes in your tank--maybe they need to be enlarged a bit--especially if your juices are thick. Juice viscosity is a big factor; thick, sweet, dark juices don't wick well and tend to drop a lot of sediment and clog the coils.

And don't chainvape--you have to make sure that you always allow enough juice to reach the coil in order to cool it.

Also, remember that cartomizers are disposable; they need to chucked after a while. If you use them for a long time, they deteriorate and start to burn and taste foul no matter how moist they are. IMO, 6-10 mls of eliquid is about all a carto can take. More if tanked.

Another possibility is that you got a bad batch. There has been all kinds of problems with Boge cartos at some point. I have an old pre-Bogegate batch and they are golden.

Or switch to fillerless clearomizers. I like Kanger clearos, like T3, baby T3, eVod, ProTank. T2 has a top coil and works fine for me, also, even though I prefer bottom coils.

Good luck!

FYI Vaperfexion is still advertising stainless CE2's in two ohms in both regular and XL. $2.00 each if you order 5 or more:

CE2 Stainless Steel Cartos - Assorted Lengths and Ohms (use for ceramic cup) - Vaperfexion

I thought these were out of production, but maybe I'm wrong(?)

Hey BanjoMan - thanks for that tip!
Looks like the price went up some though. I got a few of the EVODs from Fasttech (thanks to another sweet tip from another of my friends on this Thread) and I have decided to abandon the CE-2s after experiencing the EVOD..
LOL well I even found one of my CE-2s that I'd forgotten about. I filled it and... well, it just doesn't cut it anymore!
Between the Genisis Modd and the EVOD, well, whatever room I happen to be vaping in gets pretty foggy. LOL

I've contacted Boge and they replied that the diaper (material wrapped around the coil) is a fireproof cotton.
Boge reply quote - "The wadding is made of a special fire proof cotton."
Is that good? I don't know.
Just because it's called fireproof cotton doesn't mean it's safe to inhale. More info would be nice. Instead they send me instructions on how to fill a carto even tho I told them I've been using them tanked for a year.

BUT than I've found this on Youtube and nearly sht my pants. Not saying that's what they use but again, I don't know what they call fireproof cotton so they need to provide us with more safety information.

Vaptor, as I mentioned in my previous post, the diaper is cotton--it was tested in a lab. And there's nothing fireproof about it, trust me. They do burn--just try it yourself if you don't believe me. ;)

FYI, Chinese manufacturers call all fillers cotton, including the polyester part. They just do. I've had plenty of conversations with them on the subject.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Interesting. I found the fiberglass wicking for cartos MELTS a little bit when I put a match or candle flame to it. But it doesn't smoke or burn.
Some of the terms the Chinese use are funny though. I do respect their at least trying to use our English language though.
I got some CE-4s tonight from FastTech (thanks again Tibs!) and on the package it says 'Fell Life'... LOL well I think they meant to say 'full life'.. LOL what's a full life? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. One can only wonder...
Tibs, I might be coming up to Virginia next month after all!
Talked to my family up there and they don't like the idea of driving up there in January - what with all the ice and snow supposed to be getting this year...
I'll just wait and see what develops..

That's what Boge replied to me anyway. I'm glad to know it was tested by someone, thanks. Yes I know they burn. They burn no matter how wet you keep the carto. I've opened many, all have burns. But being a cotton, the question I'd still have is - any possible effects from inhaling burned cotton fumes?

They burn when they don't have enough eliquid. When saturated properly, they are fine.

I use my Boge cartos still, on occasion, solo and tanked, and I assure you that I haven't burnt one in years.

See my earlier post for helpful tips. :)
