Wow, I'm so angry right now. My video/audio is NOT working right, I keep loosing audio, and I'm about to throw this dam thing out the window. I REFUSE to waste any more cartos doing this crap. I'll post them when I calm down, and I would appreciate all comments about the crappy audio to kept to yourselves. If you have questions about this or that or what I might have said, fine, ask away, but no critisizms please, or I'll be forced to destroy my laptop.

Edit: NO, I wont be buying/replacing my video equipment. I don't do videos enough to warrent it, and this thing works well enough on another forum that has video chat.

Yeah what Lori said! You have worked extremely hard on this and it is not suppose to be something that frustrates you and causes upset. Everything you've done is much appreciated!! Take a break and look at it again tomorrow.

On another note since you are both here... Thank you both, Lori for pointing me in the direction of SmokeStik and Yankee for your video in their subforum that pushed me over the edge. I ordered Friday afternoon and really did not expect it to even ship until today, but much to my surprise it arrived today! I love my new Hendu battery! Absolutely stunning! So far so good with my first carto, but haven't had much time with it yet to know much. I like the way it vapes though and I was thrilled to pieces to find out that my Super T-tips fit on it! It feels funny to vape without one so it was a great plus that it fit and the stainless steel matches the battery nicely.

Yankee looking forward to your video whenever you get it done, I'm sure it will be fantastic!

Thanks guys, I didn't mean to go off like that, but I wanted to let you guys know I didn't drop the ball and did the videos. I'll post them, but audio will cut out on them after a couple minutes. :(

Witch, glad you like the Hendu, it's pretty sweet. Tell me, what do you think of the prefilled flavor? What did you get?

Hey we all need to vent sometimes! No one would think you dropped the ball, afterall this is something you are doing on your own for all of us. I for one appreciate it and look forward to anything you write or put up as a video.

I got the Menthol since I don't like regular tobacco flavors that much. I normally use an orange/fruit/menthol mix anyway. I did not find anything bad about the prefill flavor at all other than I'm not use to menthol straight and the first hit made my eyes water LOL Once I got over that it was actaully pretty good. I hit on it for a bit then topped it with my juice though. Good news is I haven't burnt the carto yet so it is holding up to my chain vaping.

Hi y'all. i haven't posted here before because I've had nothing to add. I have read the entire thread. Been lurking on it for quite awhile. But since i just posted a link to this thread (possibly for the second time, i don't remember)...i thought it might be time to pop in and say "thanks". I appreciate all of the time AND money you've all spent tracking down this issue, and trying to find the best options. so THANKS!

BTW, I use V4L and turbo cartomizers on V4L batteries. I've been dissecting them after one or more uses. What i see is pretty consistent with what you are reporting. It appears that the filler in the turbos melts/burns less readily than in the V4L cartos- but it may be that I'm much more careful now.

one other quick thought- it was touched on a awhile ago. It seems that the tobacco based flavors burn out the cartos faster than the sweet flavors in my hands. Has anyone else noticed that different flavors have different effects or is it more likely to be chance?

So glad your having a good experience with SS. The drip tip....perfect!!!! That is the way to use a 4081 carto....just drip right into it. Just dont' try putting that little guy at 4.5+ vots  I have cartos I've been using literally for weeks. I've never burnt one in normal use....only after I have "done something" to it...like take it apart and put it back together. However....I have two right now I'm using that I replaced the filler with blue foam, put the little tube back in the middle....keep it filled with Halo Menthol Ice...no problems :toast: I also much prefer them to the SLB 510's. I'm suprised you liked yours so well....I got mine 3 days ago and they are already in the trash...I was very dissappointed in the plastic tubing inside instead of heat resistant fabric. And I never got the flavor out of them that I get out of a 4081. Oddly enough....I much prefer the Boge 510's that VK was selling....2.4ohms...at 3.7V I've still got some I use that are months old! Not to say if I took them apart there wouldn't be some scorching or whatever you want to call it. But they still taste great. go figure....I hope VK changes back or someone else figures out how to build a 510 as well as the good 4081's.

ces....yes....there has been reported many, many times that different juices effect equipment differently....some have even earned the esteemed title of "atty killer" :) As far as I know there are many variables involving equipment and user habits. Things like naturally occuring sugars, alchohol, as well as pH all have an effect as well.

Hi all! I also lurk in here all the time. I just got my order of the v4l cool cartos through the mail and to me they look and vape exactly like the blue box turbos from vapornine. Both have the batting that goes almost to top of the carto. Had to remove the cap and I use a cover with a hole cut in it. It vastly improved the vape from these. I think I'll try to pull apart a couple of them this afternoon to see what is going on but I usually destroy them when I pull them apart. I'm not a patient person at ALL!

Also thank you all for for YOUR continued patience and willingness to work to make vaping better for everyone!

So far so good with the SS carto and I have a GP 4081 that I'm trying too. I'm only using cartos at 3.7 volts now. I tried a few hours at 4.5 vots and decided that 3.7 volts was more than enough :)

I'm confused, what plastic tube? You mean the one in the pic that goes around under the atty coil?

carto3.jpg

I'm sorry you did not like them :( If you have any left, I will be happy to trade you for them. I have 10 of the Boge ones. They came from LiteCig and have the hard glued in caps. He has different ones now that are the SLB ones, but is suppose to be getting more of the Boge in too and will offer both brands.

This is for everybody... Like everything, everybody vapes differently and has different taste. No two people vape the same way. Add in different juices, batteries and what not and everybody gets a different experience. Everybody has to find what works for them. I think it is not so much that one is better than another, but one may be better for one person and another one for another person. There may be no right and wrong overall, but only right and wrong per individual. Hope that made sense :)

this is very true, but before it comes to individual preferences we need a product that is fairly safe.
i really did not want to believe my eyes back in april when i opened an 808 carto and found most of the filler with burn marks [i did wash out the material].
since then, i'm sure, changes have been made with the 808s but i have found the 4081s to have a decent burn resistance. now,:vapor: i only vape them with a 4081 battery and apparently i'm a light vaper since 30 ml of juice gets me through the month.

I agree I do not want to inhale burning poly any more than the next person. I DO vape extremely heavily and can burn probably anything out there LOL I now keep at least 3 PV in rotation so I do not overheat anything and have been having much better luck with both attys and cartos. 30 mil of juices only last me 5 days.

I'm waiting for the day when they figure out how to make a carto that doesn't have the filler wrapped around the hot coil and is easy to refill. I know GreenCig cartos do not have filler around the coil, but I never could get them refilled and have them work right after the initial use. I know others have great success with them, but I couldn't get it right.

We all want the same thing in the end though :)

yes....that plastic tube at the bottom....in the SS and GP 4081's there is only the heat resistant sleeve....so if you over fill it is absorbed and vaped. With that tube I believe it allows juice to flow down into the threads where there is an airchamber that is supposed to stay empty. Just my thought...don't know if it's true or right. What I do know is I did not care for the taste....they just didn't hold the flavor for me...agreed..no right or wrong because we all have such different habits, techniques etc. Whatever works for someone is good.....like the birds said...as long as we are starting out with something safe. :)

So....510 Update:

Madvapes Boge in stock $9
VaporKings SLB blanks in stock,Boge prefilled in stock,Boge blanks on the way...all stock 3.0 resistance. $8.95 for blanks $9.99 prefilled

edit/update...caveat...I know NOTHING about these...but hey..it's something new :)

That tube is hard plastic and all the cartos (4081/SLB(that I've taken apart)) have that tube. It is there so juice can pool at the bottom and wont go down into the thread/air chamber. It's a pretty smart setup really.

You mod'd a SS lori? I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Would love to see pics or video of it.

Also lori, how did you know about my MadVapes order? Only thing was I didn't get a 6 pack of Halo, but a 50ml bottle of Marb, and I didn't bother with the charger. Being I have many devices that use mini USB, like phones, GPS, bluetooth, etc, I don't even use included cables anymore.

tiburon: I'd love to see more about those, I might even take a few off your hands when they come in just to check them out, if your willing.

I guess the one in the 510 just seems really over long to me. In other cartos it's just a little plastic disc with a short peg for the sleeve to rest over. But then perhaps it's longer on the 510 I have because 510's are bigger anyway....???? All I know is I wasn't as happy with them flavor wise as I am with the 4081/SS cartos. But we all know that could be the particular juice I use,the time of day,how many drinks I had, phase of the moon,etc... :) I'll try them again when I get the 510's I'm testing for another company and compare them.

Witchway...I never could warm up to those GC's either...

And yet another new carto to try:

Got some of these 510 cartos on the way from LiteCig. Not sure if they are SLB or not, but they appear to have brass threads, and are advertised as "510 SOFT CAP Blank Cartomizers".

I got these in today! They look like the other SLB 510 cartos pictured earlier. I just took one apart because...

I filled one 2 or 3 hours ago (after coming home from work and checking the mail) with about 25-30 drops, and within the first hour of use, it started to taste funky. Not quite like a burnt 808 carto, but more like a 510 atty in an empty cart. I refilled with a few more drops, and continued to vape. it tasted fine at first, then the burny flavor returned.

i ripped it open, and low and behold, black marks. this thing lasted me about an hour or moderate use. i hope the other 4 fair better...

You and I, ImYour Salt, seem to have a special talent... That's exactly been my experience with most of my 4081 cartos. Sooner or later, depending on the type/brand, I get that same funky taste. And the draw gets tight. And more funk. This is so weird. Maybe it happens more often in California... :p

So what part of the carto started to charr? The fibers? The tubes? The filler? Let us know. I also understand that there is a difference in the coil resistance. The low-resistance cartos, 2 Ohms or so, work well on the Riva and other low-voltage PVs (Riva is 3.1v or so), while the high-resistance 510 cartos are perfect on higher voltage PVs (3.7-5v).

the part that started to burn wasnt the filler, but that little "sock" that is wrapped inside it. it didnt burn badly. i had only vaped (less than or equal to[symbol]) .5ml out of it. just a little browning, and a fowl flavor.

i have only been using the next one for about half an hour (had to charge the batteries). i will let you know how it performs.
