Hi Banjo! :)

I think all those fillerless cartos with changeable coils are good. Filling is a breeze (and no more guesswork as to when to refill), replacing a coil unit is a breeze, and the taste is much cleaner than in any filler-type carto. When the liquid begins to turn dark, it's time to replace a coil and clean it (or toss it).

What I like about the BCCs is that the coil unit is at the bottom of the cartomizer, which, IMO, is preferable, but it's not a big deal.

I will look into them and give them a try. I just wish the replaceable coils were a little cheaper though.

They are $3.49 apiece if you buy 5 or more. Use the TVCfriend coupon code for 5% off, and his shipping is cheap. They last a long time and can be cleaned.

I recommend you get 1 clearomizer and perhaps one additional higher-resistance coil (2.2 or 2.5Ω) and see how you like them.

eGo 3ml Tabac BCC Clearomizer - Spare Bottom Coils

What are you using right now, Joe?

About the Tabac BCC. I believe it is a step in the right direction because it uses the eGo cone thread instead of the usual 510 thread. However, I believe a brave manufacturer needs to take the evolution of the e-cig a step further and sell a battery with just the eGo cone thread (less the 510 thread).

The world doesn't know it yet, but that's what is needed for the larger cartomizers and tanks that are becoming so popular now. This new standard would make the overall length of the PV about a quarter inch shorter and also reduce the weight. In addition, there's no telling how many new ideas may become possible because of a larger battery thread.

I have been modifying my 1300 mAh batteries like this for some time now. They require a redesigned cartomizer which also has less metal. This cartomizer now has a battery fitting that is simply a thin wall tube with threads inside one end. So it not only weighs less, but is easier to make. The overall difference of the combination is not all that drastic, but every little bit has been adding up to a good bit during the development of my designs of the last year or so.

Yeah, I know. A new battery like I'm talking about is not compatible with the sacred 510 devices that so many us already have. But maybe it's not all that bad. I had to make an adapter for my modified battery so that it could be charged on a standard 510 charger. Low and behold, that same adapter can be left on the battery to convert it to the equivalent of a standard eGo battery with 510 threads.

Although my rig is somewhat large, the Joyetech eCab is a perfect example of how small a device can be with a larger threaded battery. The diameter of the eCab battery is a good bit less than an eGo battery, but the atomizer is the same as an eGo-C tank. For that matter, it ain't all that much larger than a regular size e-cig.

Joyetech eCab, Changeable Atomizer and battery

As seen on this page, an adapter is available for the eCab battery for use with a 510 threaded device. I'd almost be willing to bet that this adapter could be used to charge my modified 1300 mAh battery. If that's the case, then the eCab Atomizer Body would screw on to my battery (I can't tell for certain about the exact thread just by looking at the photos).

Just because I used the eCab as an example doesn't mean that I recommend it. I've never tried one and have no desire to. However, I began vaping with the small e-cigs like most of us did, and would have been a sucker for it had it been available back when I was ready to move up to something a little larger. I think it's a real neat looking little package.

Hi BR!

Interesting observations!

I read about the eCab, and the eRoll (the mini size), out of sheer curiosity, but I'm so used to (and invested in) my eGos that I'm not looking for new batteries ATM. The eCab is very attractive, but the threading is proprietary, and that is a no-no for me. God knows I have enough chargers, batteries, cartos, atties, tanks (and other gizmos I don't even know why I own and what to do with them).

Time to streamline--until something revolutionary comes along. ;) Like a soft mini disposable e-cig, sold in packs similar to cigarette packs, one that you can take out of the package, vape for a day or two and them discard. They should be sold in packs of 5 or 10, and taste like Virginia Slim Ultra Lighs. :)

Ooooooo I'm sorry to hear about the torn tendons, Tibs! That's gotta hurt. I'm hoping you get better soon, girl!
Just for fun, I bought a 510 Starter Kit - a blister pack from the local gas station here in Cresson. LOL the first carto lasted me 8 days before beginning to taste even slightly burnt; the vapour production diminished, so I am now on the 2nd carto. Pretty cheap - 1 charger, battery and 2 cartos (the old-fashioned wick and batting) cost me $15,- before State Sales Tax. Not too shabby.
I still love my Genisis RBA though - wouldn't give it up for anything!
LOL update on the el cheapo Starter Kit - I bought another 5 cartos for it, and yesterday, finished off the last one. So that rig lasted me nearly a month! I ordered another 5 pack of CE-2 Clearomizers for it last week and am vaping on the first one now. I still like the feel of a ciggie in my hand, although it will not produce anywhere near the amount of vapour that the Genisis setup does...

Did you refill the cartos Al? that's a pretty good run for a cheap stater kit!

I need to take a picture of the clear DCC that i dissected- it's darn near pristine even after a hard to believe number of refills. Perhaps we're getting better at this

BTW....tomorrow is Tib's 3-year ECF-iversary,

It's a copy of the Kanger T3.

Check out the newer Kanger Evod, too. Kinda an updated T3.

Heya Turtle!

Kanger Evod? I'm on it...

I think we really should ask the mods to change the title of this thread to include the fillerles cartos. That's all we've been talking about for quite some time, anyway!

Yes, I refilled my cartos - they would not have lasted a day or so without not refilling them. LOL

That sounds like an interesting unit. Do you happen to know if the wick/coil is rebuildable, like vivi nova heads?

After using kr808 types for 3 months I got used to tinkering. These are the wicks out of a mistic. Kept the filler wet and stopped getting burnt holes. However I couldn't stop all burning. Some cartos would hold up better than others. Some would burn right out of the blister pack after a few puffs. I am really digging my tank on my new toy. I still use plain cartos sometimes still.

Hi RoseB!

Like my learned collegues already noted, cartomizers were originally designed for single use. They were not even meant to be refilled. But of course that made very little sense economically, so we all started looking for ways to extend their lifespan--often with dreadful consequences.

I also still use cartos, occasionally, for looks and feel of 'the real thing', but I never push their limit--5-9 ml of eliquid is all a carto can process, even a good one. May will disagree with me; a lot of people use cartos for weeks and months, wash and dry them, attack them with turkey basters, syringes and ultrasonic cleaners. But for me, the only tolerable carto is a fresh carto. :)
