I've had problems with cartos for a long time & wondered why. Up until now I haven't been able to successfully clean cartos, now I can (but that's another post... ), so today I think I finally worked out what is happening. Probably someone has already told me this (probably more than one person). I think I am burning the juice, not the cartos. Sorry, I am not good at short posts, want to give as much info as possible on my problem.

I use Wow cartos and two types of Wow juices; Nuport and Wowboy Peppermint/Wowboy mix. With Nuport, as soon as the juice starts tasting 'off', I switch to another carto. When I take the cap off the carto to refill it, the juice inside the cap is a darker brown, and there appear to be stains in the polyfill. The cartos are not empty though, and rarely take even .5ml of juice when refilling. If I disembowel a carto to see what's happening, the polyfill isn't usually scorched, nor is there residue on the base of the carto. I clean my battery threads once a month or so. After 2-3 refills I've tossed them, though the problem has gotten worse lately - more on this further on.
With the Wowoyboy/Wowboy Peppermint, a very different scenario. None of the darkening of the liquid remaining on the cap, staining or burned flavour. They also don't take anywhere near a full 1ml of juice but can be reused several times.

Interestingly I have recently gotten into a different vaping regime and batteries with the 2 juices. Instead of my old regime of just using diamond shorty autos, Nuport is now chain-vaped on either manual regular diamonds on my deck during the day, or regular auto diamonds when in the car. The Wowboy mix is still on diamond shorty autos, with regular puffs throughout the evening - but not constant puffs. Lately I've been getting through the Nuport cartos very quickly & having to throw them out after 1-2 uses, while the Wowboy cartos haven't changed.

Finally I can now wash & dry my cartos efficiently, so I can really see what's going on, and it does appear that it's the residual juice in the used cartos that is causing the problem. Still plenty of juice in there, but bitter & darker. SO, I conclude I am burning/scorching my juice.

Do you think I've finally gotten to the root of my problem? Is there a cure, other than Jeffree's suggestion of one batt in each hand, couple of puffs from each in turn?

I have a theory on this Katz which is..some juices have more sweetener in them than others and I believe Wow Nuport is one of them. The added sweetener causes a quicker carmelization affect which results in clogging the polyfill at a pretty fast rate compared to other juices. The result....the carto is unable to hold as much juice with each refill.

As well, residue (resin) also builds up on the atomizer much quicker, and thicker, leaving that brown staining around the wick tube/atomizer area. There are a few other juices like Classic Caramel Mocha Frappe that also seem to have this affect on cartos.

The only way around this is to either wash out those cartos when they simply stop absorbing juice normally or switch to a cooler cartomizer like a Cool Cart.

:2cool: it's just a theory....but you gotta admit it sounds pretty good. :)

It does sound a good theory. My Nuport cartos have always had that brown staining around the wick tube/atomizer area.

Have to concur with Snow sir on this one. That one batch of nuport wow was too sweet and in every test with it, it clogged up the carto to where it would only take .5-.6ml on refill. The latest batch doesn't do that...

Yes, the new batch of Nuport is vapelicious, and not too sweet. There has not been a 4mg in it though, so I've had to continue blending the 8mg with various batches of 0mg, plus I have gotten into the habit of adding some black liquorice. I'm reluctant to up my nic level to 8mg (doubling my usual), but it certainly is a nice batch.
