Hi, I have been vaping for about 8 weeks and recently got a vapouriz pro pen. At first it wad ok but the last couple of weeks I keep experiencing a burn at the back of my throat when I inhale. I inhale straight to my lungs and have changed the clearomizer but doesn't seem to make a difference. When I take the tank of there is a small amount of liquid in the battery which I wipe out and sometimes that makes out better but not for long. I usually vape on 4.0v but have tried reducing it to 3.5v or lower but still getting the burning throat. It is putting me off vaping and the last few days have been going back to cigarettes which I don't want to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

First of all it's not really necessary to lung inhale with a vape so you could try just mouth inhale and exhaling through your nose.
You could be developing an allergy to the PG.
Are you drinking lots & LOTS of water? Cokes don't count ;)
    Did you change e-liquids?
Visit your doctor to make sure you're not ill?

Good luck and I hope you find an answer pronto! :thumb:

Hiya. When using nicotine, there's always that peppery sensation. Especially if you use the 24mg or higher. Try lowering the nic content to 18mg. It might be a flavoring in your liquid that you're sensitive to, but I'm just guessing about that.
In any case you can also try a different atomizer with organic cotton for its wicking material. I'm pretty sure there are some cheap Kanger clearomizers for you to try out as a test that use organic cotton wicks (also sold as OCC).

I am not sure if I can mouth inhale, which probably sounds silly but it is how I have done it since I started, I have tried but it still goes straight to my lungs lol. I do write often exhale through my nose but that bit never bothers me it is just the inhale....have just tried mouth inhale and coughed...lots...very strange lol

Thank you for responding, I want to look into getting the big things, not sure what they are called but I tried one in my local vape shop and much preferred it, it is the ones you lung inhale with!!!

I only use 12mg or less as I don't like the peppery taste of stronger ones and I am ok with that strength :)

Not silly at all, vaping is totally different from smoking ;)

Good luck with the "big thing" made for MTL :D

Get that throat soothed before you try anything new eh? :)

    Hi and welcome,
    Is this what you have?
    1427791254_06.jpg

The replacement coil heads for this are:
    1427791298_88.jpg

Depending on the type and amount juice you are using, the "heads" should last from 10-25 days each.
New heads should be primed before use: attach the new head to the tank base, put a few drops of juice in each of the circles/wick ports, fill tank and wait a few mins for the liquid to distribute evenly.

The air flow with the device you have is going to be on the restricted side...so a LARGE direct lung inhale will only starve the coils and give a burnt nasty hit.

Do you inhale like the Bros in this video?

or more like a normal cigarette smoker?

    Cheers

    You coil head needs changing.

Soon you will get frustrated at having to keep buying coil heads then you will start looking at rebuildables.

The subtank and other tanks nowadays, gives you the option to buy prefab coils or rebuild your own coils a hundred times cheaper.

You WILL NOT be able to inhale with the force and speed of those in the video, using your current device.
It WILL burn and give a harsh hit.
    Slower, less intensity...
    push button/inhale..1,2,3,4,5,
    release button,hold..
    exhale.thru nose and mouth.
    For example:

Once you learn the idiosyncrasies of your device, the experience will improve considerably.

idiosyncrasies of your device, agree. i started with a itaste vv v3.0, which came with 5 iclear 16's. havsnt ever had that problem, vaping it at 8 watts, 70/30 mix and 16mg nicotine. the ce4 and 5 are really old technology. might try a iclear 16, looks the same as the ce4 and 5 . should be able to buy one for $6.00 new at local shop. i dont think id run out and spend $20.00 or $30.00 on something you really dont need, besides when, and if, you decide to upgrade in the future to a better device then that would be the time to upgrade your tank style. or you could go out and buy a provair 3.0 foro $225.00 and a natulius tank, sit back then and enjoy.

Hi @Sweet chaos , and welcome to the ECF forums! SO glad to see you found your way here. LOTS of friendly, helpful people that WILL help you get your problem sorted. OH NO, Don't go back to cigs! :)

Also, I KNOW it is expensive to buy gear, and you don't want to buy a LOT when you first start. Your preferences will change, you will learn about things that you know will work better for you. BUT, you SHOULD have a backup for EVERYthing you have, ready and waiting. Gear fails or starts acting weird, and you want to be able to switch out quick and easy, to avoid the temptation of just buying cigs. Are you here in the USA?! If you are, and the cost of equipment is a problem, I probably have some spare things lying around that I don't need anymore, that would make GREAT backup for you. :)

Good luck on your vaping! We hope to see you around a LONG time!

Hi and welcome to the board. If changing the coil in your clearo doesn't help, about your only options to reduce throat hit are to decrease PG in the PG/VG ratio-- that is, a higher VG juice-- and/or to cut nic. The pen you're using is designed for mouth-to-lung. It doesn't really breathe freely enough for direct lung hits. I'm sure you know what I mean; lung hitting it will be like trying to breathe through a drinking straw. Doubtless you'd like a tank with better airflow more. The problem there is, airflow must be balanced with vapor production, or you will feel like you're not getting any vapor, just air (the vapor will still be there, but "swamped" by the airflow and, since you can take a hit faster with better air, you'll be getting less vapor per draw.) To get more vapor to go along with more air, you will have to reduce the coil value from the 2 ohm coils you are using. And the problem with that is your current battery will not safely support much lower coils, so you'd need a new power unit in addition to a new tank with lower coils.

If that's something you'd like to try, the Kanger Subtank is not a bad place to start. It has coils available from 1.8 ohms down to deep subohm and an adjustable air flow to allow you to both balance vapor and air, as well as test different combinations to see what you like best. I am hesitant to recommend subohm vaping to a new vaper. It's pretty powerful. But if you like direct lung, you're going to need to go lower than you are now to be happy with it; 1.2 ohms, perhaps, or down in the .8-.9 range might be good for you. You may not need or like deep subohm under .5 ohms. Or maybe you will like it--I do-- but the only way to know is try.

Which brings me to power. The Subtank I recommend comes bundled in the Subox Kit (among others) with a 50 watt removable battery mod which will handle anything the tank can do except Temp Control. Other power units with fixed batteries would be the iStick 30 (marginal for subohm), the iStick 40TC (better) or the Innokin Cool Fire 4. As an alternative, the Evic VT (fixed battery) or VTC (removable battery) come bundled with a different tank which I don't like as much, but which would also probably do for your purposes. One benefit of going to more powerful gear with lower coils is you will be getting more vapor per hit and it will then be advisable to cut nic in the juice, which will help with the original throat hit problem. Look up some of that stuff and see if any of it recommends itself to you. Then come talk to us some more with your questions.
