Burning up Attys

My first kit was a ejoy 501, but soon after that I bought a big fat Riva 901.

I also own a Ego-T, but the Riva is ny favorite hands down. The problem is that I have been very unlucky with it.

First, both batteries fail on me the very first day. Not knowing if it was the batteries or the charger, I sent everything back and it turns out the batteries were indeed toast.

When I get it back again, the charger goes. In fact, 2 chargers eventually fail on me.

Finally, I get batteries and chargers that do work, but in a month I have now burned 6 attys. One low resistance one that lasted maybe 5 days, plus 5 of the regular attys the Riva comes with.

The low res I wasn't surprised, so I decided to use only the regular ones but the first one lasted only 3 or 4 days, same for the second one and now I an fresh out of atties with none lasting more than a week.

Consider too that I have a passtrough for my 501 that I use at my desk so I don't vape with the Riva all that much.

My 501 atties on the other hand have held up really well. Of the 4 attuies I purchased, 3 are still working and only one burned up.

Is it something I am doing or they are just flaky? The guys at the store already don't like me very much (even though, I am the one that should have been upset about all the failures), I am sort of afraid to tell them about the atties because they may think I am pulling their leg.

I feel your pain. I started with the eGo automatic batteries and 12 of them died in the space of 6 months. Very frustrating. I since switched to the manuals and they hold up a lot better. I've had fairly good luck with chargers. I've bought several of the multi-slot and USB chargers. I've only had one multi-slot fail on me. Atties...was using the eGo Tanks for a time, but they just don't last long enough for how expensive they are. Now I'm back using Boge cartomizers, they're cheap, reliable, and easy to fill. Wife still uses the eGos, but I'm running on my home-made mods mostly. I'm working on building some mods for her as well. Just too tired of the short lifespan and ureliability of some stuff. Mods, either home-made or off-the-shelf just don't seem to have that problem.

Sorry to hear that, cconti.

My first thought was like hairball's suggestion: when one gets warm, put it down and grab a cool one.

My second thought was a flashback to the last pet store I worked at. I had a woman bring back six heat lamp fixtures and eight heat lamps in a month. She was doing nothing wrong, she just couldn't keep heat lamps from burning out. Different brands, the fixtures I replaced, me grilling her at length about every detail of how she handled the lamps. It's a salesman's worst nightmare: doing everything right and still fried gear keeps coming back. If your attys stop frying so fast by following hairball's suggestion, great. If not, don't hate the supplier. He takes the gear out of a big box and ships it to you in a small box. It's not his fault.

That said, if you continue to have these problems, try an order from a different supplier. I had my heat lamp lady pick up stuff from a competing store (same brand and model), she had no further problems and remained a regular customer of mine. She even started buying her heat lamps from me again. There is no logic as to why it worked, the packaging on the fixtures even changed after a couple of returns, but sometimes you just need to shake things up to end a streak of bad luck.

I hope you figure it out soon!

Thanks guys. I do sort of chain vape a bit, but at the same time my 501 attys have been working just fine and the ones that I bought with my first kit only now are giving up the ghost.

However, alternating them sounds like a great idea, since the quality of the "hit" with the device cold is always better. I think I will get a spare of each, some batteries and set myself up with twins.

Alternatively, I would love to get a Mod going, except that I would like one where it doesn't look like I am suckiing on the antenna of a cellphone.

Any suggestions?

Hehe, you just described the mod I'm using right now exactly. Unfortunately the way it works with these things, if you want features, it usually means an unorthodox size and/or shape. I'll take if for the reliability and performance. You just have to be a little thick skinned about people wondering what the hell it is you're sucking on.

Check out the e-power, the slb ego clone, the noego and a few others lol. I'm happy with the e-power and recommend it. Cons are modular design, and battery replacement doesn't break the bank. The slb ego is supposed to have a good battery that works at close to 4 volts. Search youtube if you want to check them out.

are you talking about 901 attys?
i love 901 attys my favorite... use them on a Provari... dse regular, 2.8 Ohm, cost as low as $3.75 if you buy 10 form VaporKings. They are about 3.0 Ohm, and need more than a 3.7 pv... but my point is that they don't last as long as the 510's.

Their life sucks; i go through 1 a week normally. I certainly can't afford even one DOA... I use 2 Vari's and go through 2 attys in about 10 days.

Unfortunately, there isn't a good answer. I've had cheaply priced atty's last me months and Joye brand only last days. You would think that the name brand would last longer.

Are you chain vaping? If so, you need to switch between 2 PV's so that the atty's have time to cool down.

Switch! at least switch attys...make sure they get cleaned every so often...keep it wet! dripping, or topping off cartos. I would rather flood them, then let them go dry.

some mods are cell phone look alikes yes, but they will stand up on your desk!
