Hey guys I was wondering what this burnt taste is that is hurting my throat? It tastes just like maybe the kenthal is not touching the mesh wick and tastes like I put a carto in with no juice sometimes and then other times I have a pleasant taste. Also, I was wondering how I can secure the liquid from leaking out. Any Ideas? Thanks. I'm also getting a solid 2.1 ohm reading.

you pretty much answered your own question.. look closely at your coil and wick.. every part of the coils need to be in contact with the wick or the part that isn't will heat up and give the taste you describe. As for leaking... many people put the fill plug in the hole. I don't like to keep taking it off to vape so I just live with it upright. Also, if your wick isn't completely filling the wick hole, you can vape with the fill plug in but I find I don't get good wicking with it in.

It could be that your part of your coil isn't fully touching the wick. Also, don't make it too tight like you're choking it. Another thing are hot spots and the wick not being able to keep up.

I had these problems and just kept practicing. Now my issues have to deal with wick setup. I've done regular ss mesh, cotton wick with ss mesh wrapped, dual ss mesh (one rolled ss mesh inside another), and ss rope. All of them have their positives and negatives. I'm actually thinking about steering away from genesis style rbas or at least the rsst. It's been more of a pain than pleasure with the leaking and wicking issues.

Yes like mentioned make sure every coil is making solid contact with your wick, also i found that lining the air hole on the top cap up with the wick and KEEPING the fill nipple in greatly improved my draw and taste. after 1/2 a tank i was getting carto results. its a lot of tinkering and trial and error.

As for the wick ive tested several diff setups I find that keeping a small hollow area in the middle greatly helped with the wicking.

I tried this method that this guy (Quigsworth I think?) had posted on here, and I found his youtube video with his method for insulating underneath his coils with cotton threading from cheesecloth. I just ordered some Ekowool after I found out about it a few days ago to try wrapping the top of my wicks with the heat resistant sheath made from this ekowool. Until my ekowool arrives in thepost, I am using this guy's setup, I honestly think it rocks and I owe him a big thank you for introducing me to this setup:

Check it out. I tried it, and No more of that tinny taste at all. Fixes the issues of having to look for the hot spots, and vapes like crazy. I got a flat .3 mm x .1 mm kanthal coil wrapped about 5 times coming in at a 2.5 ohms. It's a bit of a juice hog, but I like that. At least check it out and see if you think this might be an idea you want to try. Also, make sure you roll a 'soda straw' style wick, it draws the juice really well.
