I usually notice a burnt taste when the flavor has all been vaporized and there still seems to be a little pg in there-most likely when theres hardly any juice in the atomizer. Also check your cartridge material-if its dry at the top then its most likely burning that-always keep the top damp although it is hard since the liquid always seems to flow to the bottom-making the juice in the bottom impossible to vape. take the cartridge out and just vape with the atomizer on and see if it still taste burnt-then its most likely the cartridge giving problems

I keep getting either a flooded atomizer resulting in no vapor or a burnt taste. The flooding can usually be resolved by blowing out the atty...the burnt taste seems a little tougher to diagnose. Not enogh liquid? When I add more I flood the atomizer again....hard getting off analogs when keep a consistant vapor...

Sorry for the typo. I meant hard getting off analogs when I can't get a consistent vapor. I posted that message from work on my phone.

I'm using a 901 from MVS. I've had it maybe two weeks...if that.

It seems that everytime I look at the cartridge, the top looks dry but when I add a few drops of liquid, I end up flooding the atomizer. When it works properly, it's pretty amazing. I need it to work though, not have to spend 15 minutes trying to figure out why I either don't have vapor or it tastes burnt. By that time, I've already picked up an analog....

I'm assuming it's operater error somewhere since the 901 is supposed to be a very good starter e-cig.

I love mine- but some here will razz you lol
I tried two other types and still think my 901 rocks. If you have a cleaning cycle on your battery and you don't get the battery off in time- the atty is a goner, it just wont ever taste right again. I have three burnt tasting ones(anyone want them? lol)... The 901 is a gas hog- are you using carts or dripping liquid? (sorry if you said and I missed it.) I get a burnt taste when its dry- I think it taste like a night club with the fog machines. I also have over heated my atty and tasted it. And often I have found now when I am about to lose an atty I taste it.
In my opinion, carts- if you use them- are just unrealistic and dry up fast. I cannot go back to them. I drip a few drops of liquid on the top of my wool before each use. It feels like I do this A LOT (which I guess I do) but I haven't even made a dent in my new 30 ml juice. It takes time to truly get the hang of the whole process, but you figure out what you like the best and just kinda find your new habits.

You did say you're using liquid...duh me....
do you only have one atomizer?

No, I have three. I keep seeming to do the same thing no matter which one I try, which lends itself to the operater error theory.)

I'm a light drawer, even with analogs, I hate when DH takes a hit off of my analog, he always makes them hot and gross with long, drawn out hits.

When I drip a few drops on the cartridge filler, I end up flooding the atomizer (I think, because I can blow drops of liquid out of it) and get NO vapor.

"If you have a cleaning cycle on your battery and you don't get the battery off in time- the atty is a goner"

REALLY? I hadn't read that I needed to remove the battery for that anywhere...In fact, I really haven't seen a lot of mention of the self-cleaning cycle at all. I just went through the "instruction manual" (and I use the term VERY loosely) and it doesn't even mention a cleaning cycle. It does however say "Be careful to avoid inhaling any small amount of liquid mucus caused by the oral stimulation"....OMG....I'm not gonna touch that one with a 10 foot pole. What the heck does that mean aside from what it SOUNDS like it means....

Really hoping these atomizers aren't fried. I haven't been very consistent with using the e-cig and I really can't order anything else at least until I quit analogs, paying for both is just ridiculous...

OMG...not fair, mine does not provide such services!
(dies laughing)
Ok so what juice do you have? It seems it might be too runny? How are you holding it and do you prime it? (I prime mine- three quick puffs if I have put it down for a while...which is never... but in theory I would do that lol)
This is a hard thing to talk about in text- wish I could show you first hand how to suck on it.
buahhhh...I'll be all red faced after I hit send...

Too funny...I can't even re-read what they have printed in the manual without laughing....How could someone write that and not catch the inference there?

I guess it's possible. It's almost 50% commercial juice/around 25 % VG/ a few drops of water/ a few drops of LorAnn flavoring and the rest PG....

I sometimes do a quick primer puff. Although it doesn't always seem necessary. I don't know...I'm waiting for a battery to charge as we speak. I can't believe I'd even have a dead battery for as little as I actually use it.

I wurv engrish instructions.
I wonder if you just didn't get a bad ecig all together. I dunno. Youre juice does sound runny, but I really dont know...mine drips slowy, and sticks to my wool compleatly.
ugh....Don't even get me started on batteries...I keep five on me at all times. I'm just that determined not to smoke tar ever again. I want it to work for you so you fall in love with it like I have! I am just that way...I get sad when people dont like them- even though I know they wont be for everyone. I will kiss my 901 and tell him that you didn't mean to hurt his feelings....

That's what is so frustrating. When I do get decent vapor that's not burnt tasting, I really think I could kick the analogs. That's so infrequent however, that I reach for the analogs because I'm tired of fussing with it. I would like to love my 901 too!

What is so weird is that I got the burnt taste this morning.....immediately thought of you! Its the first time its happened- and the only thing I can think is its the wool, or whatever the stuffing is made of- getting to hot and scorching? I flipped my wool around and it went away. This is a new cart that was unfilled when I got it- do you use unfilled ones?

Isn't that annoying? I spent the entire day sewing a prom dress for my 18 yr. old daughter. I ended up going out and BUYING analogs because I couldn't get any consistency with my 901. Maybe 4/5 decent puffs....burnt taste....play around with the stuffing to rewet it or add a few more drops.....4/5 puffs...burnt taste. I just don't have time to pi$$ with it. I'm using a good bit of juice because I have to keep rewetting it or I get the burnt taste. When I pull the cartridge off sometimes you can see a little wisp of smoke coming off the atomizer.

Yeah, empty carts. I don't know if I have it too close to the atomizer and it's scorching OR too far away and the atomizer is getting dry and giving me the gross taste.

Did you figure out what was causing yours?

The problem as i read it is that you dont get juice flow to the coil although the cart has sufficient; this problem can occur with dripping too, and it's not because there is not enough juice but that the juice is not getting to the heater coil ...

A certan draw force (strength of inhale) can be enough to activate the coil (light comes on and coil heats up) but not enough to draw droplets from the metal wicking mesh to the coil. That's what I think is happening.

So, when you notice vapor trail off or burnt smell or running dry, try a more forceful inhale, even if briefly, followed by your usual inhale. You might well hear the short strong inhale pull some juice onto the coil. This is what is sometimes referred to as a 'primer puff'; for it to solve this particular issue it needs to be strong (usually by primer puff is meant pre-heating the coil, but in this case it is getting droplets of juice to the coil that is the aim).

It generally needs a bit more force of inhale to get some juice onto the heater coil than to activate the coil and this is probably the reason for your experience. I find I need to do the short strong inhale every so often (about every third puff or so) with my 901s - and then all is well.

Hope this helps :)

Let us know if it does.

Call me "duh" but I don't understand how drawing on the cartridge sends liquid to the atomizer? ...I mean the atomizer is in FRONT of the liquid...

The juice flows by itself to the sides of and behind the heater coil. It is drawing through theair that pulls little droplets of juice from behind the heater coil onto the coil. It needs a bit more strength of inhale to get that juice to the coil than it does to get the coil to activate.

Try a short strong puff and then (after that) i hope you'll get clouds of fog.

ps: you mean the liquid is in front of the coil ;) - but i know it sounds odd even so; trust me, the juice first goes behind the coil and is then pulled by breath onto the heater coil. The juice is drawn into the atomizer automatically, but the last step - onto the heater coil - depends on you inhaling with sufficient strength (at least every so often).

In time, you'll know just how hard to inhale and when, and it will become second nature.

Doc - true, but still needs sufficient inhale power to get the juice onto the coil.

If the short strong inhale does not help, try dropping a few drips into the atomizer; wait a minute and try that. If it now works ok then the problem is that the cart is not properly contacting the 'metal bridge' inside the atomizer. In this case, try pulling out the cart material a little bit.
