So I keep having issues with a burning taste with my clearomizers. It doesn't happen with all of them. Sometimes it's mild, sometimes it's more pronounced and really quite disgusting. It happens with both clearos I've tried, and it's happening right out of the box. The phoenix and the stardust are the two I'm using. From what I can tell, the resistance shouldn't be a problem at all. I'm using a 3.8v kGo and haven't used any cartomizers with a resistance under 2.0 ohms.

Any ideas?

That makes sense. I bet that will also fix the tight draw issues I've had on occasion with the stardusts.

I'm still concerned about the phoenix, though. I can't seem to find anyone else having this issue with the phoenix bottom coils. I really like them performance-wise, but I'm not thrilled with the flavor I've been getting with some of the liquids. In fact, one of the vanilla flavors I was using tasted great at first but developed a terrible burning taste over time. This was with a fresh out of the box phoenix.

What type of juice are you using? Is it a high VG ratio. VG will take longer to wick, which can result in dry hits, especially if you are like me and take several long 5-7 second hits in a row.

As others have suggested, on a top coil, try lifting the silicone cup just a but, on the bottom coil Phoenix its even easier. Use your syringe like to you are going to fill it and then angle it to the side just a touch and slowly remove the silicone cup. Now, take a pair of tweezers or something small and rock the metal post a couple of times, then you can turn it upside down an it will come out. This is how you would clean it. Put it back in but don't push it all the way down, just seat it back in the center. Thi will allow a bigger hole for the juice to flow to the wicks. If you look closely at the bottom, you can see the wicks and where the bottom of the center post meet it, the bigger the gap, the better the flow. Jus make sure the post is seated in there and not loose in the tube

Myself I've been using the SD V2 fro 2+ weeks and no issues. Also have 22 friends that are 3+ weeks on them and another issue I sometimes found was tight draw. There's a vid somewhere about pulling the air way out a little with tweezers and it did resolve the tight draw. I vape 60/ 40 PG/ VG.

Good vid and although it's for the V1 short wick it talks about cleaning, dry burn and improved air flow- air flow at 4:45 mins

Here's also a thread on resolving tight draw- I did something close to this on my Megalodon connector because of tight draw and it did work. I suggest start with 1 hole and test.

Good Luck.

I'm using 70/30 PG/VG. The issue is inconsistent, too. It doesn't happen with every phoenix I've used. It's making me consider switching to a tank/carto. I might give that a try anyway to see if I prefer it.

I sometimes get dry hits (aka burnt hits) after filling a phoenix, especially if it is too full and has no air space, "primer puffs" cure this, short strong rapid puffs until you see bubbles, bubbles in mean fluid out,

after initial priming I very rarely get a dry hit, usually only after a long chain vape, primer puffs again get it flowing,

save you dead phoenixes, I like them even better after recoiling and wicking with %100 cotton yarn, I was getting silica fibers in my mouth with the stock silica wicks. also they were not reliable, both shorts and open circuits.

Even with 70/30 I occasionally get the same problem on the bc Phoenix. It is always because the metal tube is pushed too far down. Try it, it won't hurt.

Personally, I never tried the tanks with cartos because I got so used to the better taste with clearos and wicks. With my job, the vision clearos don't help because I need something that can get banged around and won't leak, which I get with the Phoenix. Once I tried them, I put my old cartos in a drawer and have not touched them since. I have at least 10 I have never even used. The other nice thing about the wick system is you can change Flavors easily.

It's all a personal preference, what's good me me may not be good for you, so try them, you may like it better. But try adjusting your Phoenix too, no sense in wasting them
