5 days is more than I get from an atomizer usually, of any kind. It's good to rinse and dry burn before they get to crusty, imo. I generally clean mine after anywhere from 4 to 8 mls of liquid has gone through it. Really depends on what liquid you're using though. If I were you I'd clean it every other day and see how that works out.

I would suggest the dry burn too but sometimes when mine get that way, I rinse them out with hot water and fill them up with PGA (I use Everclear, some use Vodka). I let them sit over night and rinse them out again let them air dry. Just my :2c: but it has worked for me and I get usually a month off the coils I build. Good luck to you.
