I made one out of some spare 1/2" aluminum square stock from the garage. It took me 5 minutes. Put the wire in at the top, tighten the set screw, and wrap. I've got extra holes for different diameter coils.

The only time I really use it is when I'm wrapping micro coils with 26 gauge wire, as it's really stiff and hard to hold while you wrap around such a small bit.

Make 200 of them and bag them with a set of common diameter sized pins, and I'll bet you can put enough cash in your pocket for 2 or 3 Provaris!

I have yet to officially wrap a coil. The problem is simply that I have too many tanks and devices that I have not burned any out yet. I plan to start building them this week for practice. I have the supplies I need...hopefully. I started vaping in the end of July and my OCD kicked in, thus the journey began.

I already had a rework station with all the magnifiers I needed. I just built an Ohmmeter and Vloltmeter to use for E-cigs. The regular meters work, but I like the custom pieces. I also picked up some wire boxes to keep things running smooth.

I plan to build a test and fire box next so I can mount devices and fire them all on the same box before they get put on a mod.

Wish me luck..lol

I've thought about it. Even as a fabricator, as much as I'd like to spend hours in the garage drilling hole after hole, making a few bucks, I'd rather just show people that "just MUST have the latest and greatest overpriced thisandthat", that with a little time and ingenuity you can BUILD yourself something that works just as well, for less money, and have the satisfaction of knowing you made it. The materials for that jig probably cost me about 10 cents, and if you go buy one (when/if they're available), they're going to charge you $20+, and people will eat it up!

Sigh... I'm too idealistic for my own good I suppose

Then there are people who do not own the tools, knowledge or skill set to make such a thing. To people like me paying 20 bucks for a gadget like that is far better than investing way to much in an appropriate drill + bits + clamps + whatever else you already had to hand to build it. :)

OP, dry burning is your friend. this will extend the life of your heads.

Check out 'Micro Coils'(ALL WRAPS TOUCHING). They are SO much easier to wrap than traditional coils. There is even a block that can be puchased online somewhwew with an alligator clip on one end and a drill bit type of post on the opposite end to make the process even simpler ... can't remember where I saw it perhaps if someone else knows they can provide a link?
Micro coils greatly simplify the coil making process. Youcan do it!

theres one called the dark zero coil jig

No, but I DO think you're not taking into account that many people here don't have access to the tools you do...

Yes I know you can get that aluminum blank at any Super-Hardware store in a 3foot length for $5 or less, and with nothing more than a dremel motor and the right bits make that jig (except for the threads on the end)

OR even more troublesome, a place to do the work.... I can tell you from personal experience that getting aluminum grindings and shavings out of the carpet is a real pain in the ..., and NOT much appreciated by the wife!

I'm fortunate enough to have a woodshop to work in these days, but a lot of others are living in apartments, or for other reasons simply don't have an appropriate area to work...

In that situation, rather than lay a tarp or shower curtain in the middle of the living room floor with a 2ft x 2ft piece of plywood to work on and sit my fat .... on the floor Gotta keep close to the ground to minimize the "Splash" area from the dremel... (and you're still going to throw dust beyond the covered area...

I'd prefer to just pay the $20 for something pre-built if it was available...

Now, that's just me... but I suspect I'm not alone in this...

I'd rather spend that time and effort playing with my toys :D

Speaking of wrapping coils today is my coil wrap day. My wife and son will be out with the in laws so I have the place to myself. I'm on vacation. I'll be blasting some classic rock most likely and doing some rebuilds with no distractions. My son bless is heart is autistic and it's a bit difficult to stay focused when he needs something. Or when my wife gets irritated I'm not paying attention lol.

I have been enjoying wrapping coils lately, therapeutic almost. Currently looking at a pile of about 20 or so. I suppose it's like knitting except you don't get socks or a hat out of it.

my eyes and fingers are not like they used to be so i look for easy shortcuts and here is one.
Get a luer lock blunt tip needle. wrap your micro coil around it then stuff your cotton into the hole on the end. Then just slide the coil over the cotton... Eezy peezy!

True, but then you can't make a realistic cloud from a ball of yarn either! :D

Yikes bro. I love Floyd as much as the next guy, but motivational it is not! Throw in a little Allman Brothers, my personal fave tinkering music!

Oh Aye, but I gots me plenty of motivation! The Floyd is contemplative and I needs my focus to wrap a perfect micro!
