Not sure this title makes sense. Not an English native.
Anyway.
When I saw this

button cover by darkzero I went mad. I thought I had seen god. He stated in his thread that these were not easy to make, as the inner diameter had to be very precise to fit the Delrin button.
What I'm thinking is why not just make a metal cover for the standard Delrin button cover? We could just glue it on top of it.
These could be brass, SS, even Alu with all colors and finishes of the Reo line.
I'm in no way an engineer or anything, so if it is a stupid idea just say it. Would that be hard or expensive to make?
Anyway I'd love to see these sold on Rob's site.
That would make for interesting combinations.

Like this?

Or this?

I've posted the same thing before. I think it's a great way to customize your Reo and while I've used an actual button in the pictures above it doesn't necessarily have to be a button per se. You could use any kind of topper that fits the purpose.

I've since used modeler's paste to fill the button holes in the silver one above and it looks much better but the enamel paint is coming off so no pics until I fix it. I'm thinking of using nail polish instead with a nice clear coat or perhaps some automobile touch up paint to make it more durable.

There are tons of button sites out there. I look for toppers 15mm or less (the standard Delrin and Dark Zero's creations are 12mm).

I think these would look pretty snazzy.

Gotcha. I think that would be as difficult as milling a button to fit the standard Reo button. One might be able to use foil of some kind perhaps but your color choices would be limited.

I think a more practical approach would be to paint the Delrin button. pdib mentioned using nail polish in one of his threads. I believe that would be worth a shot and you'd have access to a large number of colors.

ok . . . honestly . .. where are these buttons from, CM? I got $20 says these were for a cardigan that either wife or mother had started; but never finished.

ADDIT: circa 1987

No way...those are stylish futuristic looking buttons. In fact...I would not be surprised if they were from the future...left here as a prank by some home economics class 500 years from now. Nope...wouldn't be surprised one bit.

The little hooligans stashed 'em here:

Suit Jacket Art Metal Button :: Sawyer Brook Fabrics

If you listen carefully you can hear them snickering through the time-space continuum.
