To remove from the base I use a nice thick cloth and a pair of needle nose pliers on the button ring. Once off the body I use a cloth and needle nose on the bottom part of the button and my fingers on the top (part you press) If it is too tight you can use double pliers and cloths. The cloth is just used to keep the button from getting scratched from the pliers.
