I'm purchasing my first mech mod, Stingray X! I have been vaping for about 8 months now!! Love it's great. I currently have been rocking a SVD, love the thing but it time to upgrade! I have some knowledge with ohms law and battery safety but figure it could hurt to get opinions from here. First I would like to say I have a smok RSBT, if you don't have get one their awesome. This was my RBA, get for beginners but awesome flavor!! So here is my concerns with entering the mech mod world: I'm wondering if I should run a safety fuse? I don't plan on going below .9 ohms for now. I run nothing but IMR batteries being Aw and Efest plus I have authentic VCT4 on the 18650. Sorry my first post is long but I wanted to give some background information and say hi to everyone here!!! Advance vapors please give me some input please! Thank you for your time!

Never used the stingray x. So I don't want to comment on it as I don't own one. As far as the batteries. I have used the 18500 purple Efest 15 amp and Sony vtc5. The Efest were great never any issues but they just don't last all day because they are the 18500 series. The Sony ones are my all day batteries I have em in my box mod and my mech mod. Love em.

Welcome to the forum as well.

My opinion is battery safety should be your safety fuse. Research battery safety. And if you think you got it down, research some more.

I'm new to mech mods and batteries myself so I don't mean this in a douchey or know-it-all way... but knowing the best brand of batteries does not equate to knowing batteries.

Just research battery safety. Not just how to prevent issues, but also how to react if you have one.

I use the vtc4 in my Overdose and have no problems with it. To quote (respond) just click on the "respond with quote" at the bottom right of the post
Thank for helping the noob!! Haha Glad to here vct4's work great!! Can't wait to break into the mech mod and dripper world!! By the wY my first dripper is going to be the magma, any thoughts? It's a clone by Infinite.

How do I post a response to a specific person on here. Like the post you see that have the yellow boxes showing what post you are responding too. I'm sorry I'm such a noob to posting on this forum!! Lol

Not sure if you are on a mobile device and if it looks differently, but just click the "reply with quote" link directly below the post you want to answer and it will put the text of the post in your reply box.

Welcome to the forum Borders03, seems like you are on the right track. I too use AW and Sony batteries - if you are going to stay above 0.9, either one will work very well and minimize any risk of battery events. At 0.9ohms, you will be pulling 4.6 amps from your battery.

The key is to know your battery limits (I always use continuous discharge) and know how many amps your current build is going to pull - before you fire it.

I'd recommend having a read of a blog by a fellow ECF member Baditude. He has some excellent information all about vaping, and in particular about batteries. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/5163-12-deeper-understanding-mod-batteries-part-i.html

I have a stingray x and i love it. In my opinion it is a great mech mod. The locking ring does stick some times but is easily fixed by unscrewing the middle section or the fire button a little bit and it will free up. Make sure you get into the habit of locking it after use because the fire button is easy to set off. Great mod though. Works great and looks even better.

Thank you for the link!! Heard great things about this forum!! Also thanks for the advice. Got my ohms law calculator on my iphone recently. So I'm good to go but before and if I decide to push past .9 ohms I will be making sure my batteries are up to par! Although I have a good feeling my vct4's will be up to the task!!
