Hey guys,

My dad is in his 50's and smokes at least a pack of cigarettes a day. My family has tried to get him to quit... but we've never really pushed the issue. Rather than referr him to places where he can get help quitting, or even worse nagging him, I thought I'd try buying him one of these e-cigarettes.

tl;dr ~ I need to know what to buy my dad / where to buy it.

Basic info on what i'm looking for:

  • My dad smokes Marlboro light 100's (i'm pretty sure).
  • I'd like to buy him an ecigarette that doesn't require pushing a button.
  • I heard there's actually a marlboro flavor of liquid, so if there is, that'd be awesome.
  • I'd like to get one that resembles a cigarette as close as possible.
Thanks for your help in advance :)

I'm setting up a very similar rig to that for my Dad.

I know he would prefer automatic, but manual is just soooo much better once you get used to it, so I put together:

MadVape PCC
1x auto 510 batt
1x manual 510 batt
6 x Boge Ciggie .... colored cartos

I cut the end of two of the carto condoms and put the sleeve on the end of each battery. This stops the second batt (the one not charging) from falling too deep into the PCC.

I'm going to fill the cartos with a variety of flavs (licorce, root beer, lemondade, USA (Malboro) and two other JuiceWhore tobacco blends.

I'm fairly sure my Dad will never give up smoking, but he's going to be a grandfather in a few weeks so I'm giving him this as a "please don't smoke around the baby, but you can use these". I gave him a disposable from TinyDeal and he used that for about a week before running out of carts and giving up with refilling. During that week Mum said he basically halved his normal ciggie consumption.

I'm hoping if I can get him setup with some decent gear, then if I provide the refills, we can see what happens next.

Look at the 510 kits and Liberty Flights. Also you might want to consider an ego as an have option, They have good battery life but do have a button. Now one good option is v4l. Vapor for life have got some great kits and they do have automatic batteries I have bought one of their kits and vey good. Liberty flights has a twenty percent discount on their products look at the upper left hand corner of their site. All of the above mentioned devices are really good and all of them i think would work great for you dad

If you want to start him out simple, you could get him an 808 kit from Vapor4life.They have auto batteries and they have these great sampler packs of cartos so you could get him a nice assortment of flavors to try.I love the coffee sampler myself.Just an idea and how I introduce most of my friends and older relatives to vaping.Start off simple and see how it goes.

For vapor4life, use SMILIN12 for 12% off, and FREESHIPPINGUS for orders over $50, through tomorrow. For a full PAD smoker, simplest approach, go for the KR808D-1 kit with automatic batteries. I'd recommend the XL version (some places call them Mega). They end up being about the size of a long cirgarette length-wise, while a standard 808 battery with carto is about the size of a 100.

Pick up some pre-filled cartomizers -- vapor4life has decent stuff. Probably 18 mg strength (most full pack a day lights smokers use this, at least to start), with maybe a pack at 24 mg and a pack at 12 mg (24 mg is good for particular "craving" times, while 12 is good in case he is one of the people who needs a step down). They have cig knock-off names, which are more or less like the cigarettes for flavors, though vaping absolutely doesn't taste like smoking at the end of the day.

If he's often out and about for extended periods of time, either a PCC (Personal Charging Case) or a third, extra, XL battery should keep most people all day.

Note the basic vapor4life kits include 5 cartomizers, your choice of flavor and strength -- you put it in the notes field I believe.

Refilling cartomizers isn't hard, you can ask him to save the old ones for future use, butat least at first prefilleds is simple. Personally I think of a typical prefilled as equivalent to around 10 - 12 cigarettes worth of vaping, though vapor4life often has pretty healthy fills.

Good luck!

I second getting a basic KR808 kit. I started with a 510 kit (the eGo and a standard 510) but the 808 is so much simpler and consistent in its use. I recommend the Volt, which you will find plenty of good reviews around here for it. They used to have a 'marb' flavor that was pretty good. Not sure if they still have it or not though. I recommend the 'desert joe' flavor, I find it to be one of the closest to a regular cig taste I've found out there.
