When you say dead, are they just gunked up or are they not firing at all?

If they're just gunked up, you can soak the coil in vodka or grain alcohol overnight, then dry fire them. The should be good for 3-4 cleanings like this. If that doesn't work, or you still get a burnt taste out of the cleaned coil, then it will be time to toss the coil.

If they coils are not firing at all, then you probably got a faulty coil.

BVC coils should not be dry-burned with a wick in them. Burnt cotton doesn't taste very good. ;)

I know, I never dry burned it. I think it's just the excess gunk from my juice that produced that taste..

Anyway my coil is changed now and it's okay. Last pack I had 3 faulty or weird coils.. poor me!

Sounds like you got a bad coil. It happens. My wife uses K1's and we've never seen one fail but I'm sure it can happen. She can get a week to two weeks from one depending on the juice.

Interesting, may I ask what type of juice she is using most of the time? I might make a switch to a lighter juice myself since
coils are a bit pricey for a 5 pack around here.

I get 2 1/2 to 3 weeks from a BVC with relatively clear, unsweetened juices, mint/menthol or berry flavors. YMMV.
A dripper is used for the 'gunky' stuff because the wick can be removed, the coil dry-burned, and a rewick put in place in just a few minutes and for just a few pennies.

It's also important that you purchase authentic coils from a reputable distributor. The cheap ones are never cheaper in the long run.

Yeah I buy authentic. I might get into drippers because I really love my juice. It's 50/50 and dark though.

Will def. grab some lighter flavors for my tank or learn how to clean up my coils.. Haha

I normally get at least a week out of my Nautilus BVCs, occasionally three.

But I have noticed recently that I'm getting less life overall. QC?

I've been using Nautilus tanks exclusively while working over the last 10 months or so (arborist/carpenter) and haven't noticed an issue. Then again, I bought several dozen packs of coils back then as well, and haven't gotten into any newer packs. It's a work-horse set-up for me. Hope it never changes.
