I finally got a bottle of Casablanca after reading reviews claiming it's a good straight-up tobacco juice. I just tried it after steeping for a week and there is an overwhelming flavor of paprika or similar spice. Am I crazy? The flavor is so strong and distinctive to me that I can't believe it's not mentioned in every description of this juice. I can see me eventually liking this, but it's a surprising taste at the beginning

About a year ago there were a few people who were tasting pepper in Casablanca, steeped or not. I have never tasted anything even close to that, I get a complex sweet tobacco with cocoa on the exhale and a turkish tobacco aftertaste on my tongue that last a few seconds. It may just be a difference in taste buds. Perhaps it's not for you.

I read recently that you can use blue food coloring to see if you are a super taster. Apparently it doesn't stick to taste buds, so if your tongue doesn't turn blue you are one and if you tongue is all blue you are missing out on a lot of flavor. I haven't tried it, but may buy a few blue popsicles next chance I get.

Here's an online article about it. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...u-supertaster-mindless-eating-your-taste-buds

I get nothing but jalapenos from Casablanca, even after a month of steeping. I wondered if maybe it was just a bad batch, but I later got some in a trade with another ECF member that had steeped even longer, and it was the same, just jalapenos.

This was far beyond a tastebuds thing, though. It literally cleared my sinuses. I went from congested, to clear and runny nose within a minute, so something in there acts as a decongestant.

I hope that someday vendors are either voluntarily forthcoming about their ingredients, or that it becomes a requirement...I would certainly like to know if I'm inhaling vapor with capsaicin in it.

Good evening folks.
I am a Casablanca fan..

I have detected subtle nuances of many of the flavors you all have mentioned.

However, when I vape it in a 2.0ohm carto , at 4.5 volts, I get "my" sweet spot.

I taste:
A little spicy and light / sweet turkish tobacco on the inhale and hold.. and an unsweetened Cocoa added to the mix on the exhale.

I have a strange hypothesis : I think this juice has a large flavor profile that changes with wattage.
Much in the same way that the flavor of sugar changes when you add heat to it. You can even make sugar bitter , if you burn it and get it hot enough.

Being a cigar smoker in the past, and still enjoying one on occasion .. I learned and find that many flavors are really appreciated during retrohaling specifically. That holds true for me with many high quality juices as well.

Just my newb thoughts. lol.

Peace and God Bless.

- Vin

Casablanca is one of my top juices...and I give it all of the credit for getting me away from the analogs...but in the last batch I got I sometimes taste jalapenos too! Now i don't know if that is because I read it somewhere and thought that sounded so crazy that it became a mental thing and I actually thought I started tasting it, or what....but sometimes I get a jalapeno taste, and other times (more of the time) its that same flavor I remember loving so much on the day of my last cigarette. Taste is very funny thing...thats for sure

So I've been vaping Casablanca for a good two weeks now and can still very much taste a bell/chili pepper/capsicum component, but it has been balanced out by a nice smoothness that might be cocoa or tobacco (or both). The bottom line though is that I'm very much enjoying it to the point where it is in my top 3 daily rotation juices. I love food dishes that are both spicy and sweet and although this is one of the drier juices I've tried (which is nice), it appeals to that taste profile for me. Sometimes it even tastes a bit like the spicy Mexican candy I'm a huge fan of (usually chili pepper with a sweetened fruit such as tamarind, which would actually be my primary request for a vendor to create).

This by far is one of the most distinctive, tasty juices I've vaped.

Casablanca has a strong base flavor that I don't care for no matter how long it steeps. Nothing against BWB, I find that flavor in many well loved juices. I am wondering if it's the taste of tobacco absolute.

If interested there is another thread discussing this flavor named "taste of tobacco absolute?" I would be very interested if anyone has any input to add to that thread. :vapor:

Had a bottle of Casablanca for a week or so and been dripping it on occasion to see how the flavor develops. Mostly tastes like tobacco with a distinct grass flavor. Not that type of grass.. more like lawn grass. Not that I smoked lawn grass but it's what pops into my mind. It'll sit in the small box of numerous juices that I will drip a few drops of to see if the taste will change as it steeps.

Tobacco absolute adds a little green or hay to the mix. I don't get that with Casablanca. Tobacco extract lacks the hay overtone.

There may also be a contribution from a tobacco flavor such as Dark Vapure which has chocolate overtones or an extract from captain black type flavor.

All said and done Casablanca is my fav vape. I'm enjoying my 120ml bottle thanks Don.

@J**2

I'm glad you enjoy Casablanca - so many people do! Just so I understand, are you saying you don't think Casablanca has ta in it? That you think the base flavor is Dark Vapure/captian black?

I seem to be the only one to describe Casablanca (or ta) as tangy/tart. Do you think what I'm actually tasting is hay? My taste buds are still way off so if that is the case that could be why people don't seem to get/understand the way I'm describing the flavor.

it's a turkish tobacco flavor... you won't find anything else like it in don's profile... however, you will find similar tones in almost any turkish tobacco vape...
that flavor does have more exotic tones... I used to vape it religiously... never got pepper from it... then... one day I started getting a pepper taste... it never went away - I asked don what changed and he said nothing...
I trust don... so I can only conclude that it was I that changed.

In 2+ years, I have noticed that my taste changes...
some examples...
1. Hated menthol for the first year and a half... now it's all I like...
2. Vaped vapor station juices like there was no tomorrow... and one day... after a sizable order... all of my 6 flavors were suddenly too strong for me... unvapable. nothing changed with VS... it was me.
3. same with halo torque... loved it to death and out of the blue... it became unvapable to me...
4. I have this issue with boba's... some days it has no flavor... some days it has too much...

all I am saying is that what we already know - taste is subjective... and it changes... inexplicably... despite what some of the ranting fools are currently professing in their begging to be epic threads... and they'll learn this themselves at some point...

so, you taste pepper? me too... I long to be back in the zone where all I taste is the cocoa... I am sure that it will happen again for me...

For two months I would pull out the bottle of Casablanca and taste it every week. I experienced many different flavors over that time but the two that were constant was Turkish tobacco and cocoa. The cocoa (on exhale) did mellow over that time period. I did get a pepper flavor at one point as well, but that diminished.

Casablanca never did become something that I wanted to vape again. I did enjoy the experience of taste differences over that time. I can understand someone liking this juice as a regular, it just never became something for me.
