Events of the day...

DH still in hospital. Good news, the cardio (zapper) doc was able to get the heart "flutter" eliminated. Heartbeat normal. All's good. Thought I'd make the most of the time, so...

Went down to the cardio rehab office and spoke with the director. They do all kinds of post-surgical therapy, training, exercise programs, etc. Had an excellent visit. He offered me 10 minutes, but I got 30!

Anyway, it's unbelievable how much information has NOT been provided to these professionals.

If you do this, I recommend taking the following things from CASAA:

Their doctor's flyers with the Which Would You Choose for Your Nicotine Addicted Patient? I laminate these so they're less likely to toss them (that's the theory anyway lol)

CASAA's Tri-fold brochure The Facts About Electronic Cigarettes I have modified this somewhat for my needs, but the info is the same

CASAA's Nicotine Effects piece This is necessary because everyone needs to know some people (like me) choose nicotine as an anti-depressant rather than a pill (vapor much more fun & tasty too!)

Of course, I vaped in his office! First cloud always the most fun!

Good Luck!!!

Sorry to hear that your DH is in the hospital, hope he is getting better.

I agree with you the Dr.'s just don't have the right info out there about these things, nicotine effects, and possible benifits.

I mean this as a compliment, nicotine works very well for you.

I'm reading how your hubby is sick and all you are showing is a strong and positive attitude.

I'm glad to meet you, everyone is right, you really are a wonderful person.

In answer to a kind inquiry about why I was off the radar here at ECF for a few days (Classy's a stalker in a really nice lady's human suit)...

What I do...

First, I make sure I'm Always vaping. (I still stealth in stores and such.) I talk to everyone about it -- in line at the grocery store, any smoker I see, etc. I always have literature with me. CASAA's flyer is nice. I changed it a bit to add my contact info and personal story, but it's basically the same. I hand them out left and right. I also ask businesses if I can put a stand with flyers on their counters. I've never gotten a "no." I explain what the pv is, demonstrate, and let them try it if they're a smoker. (FYI: Non-smokers will be your biggest supporters--they all love someone who smokes.)

When handing someone a flyer, I explain, "This is just a life jacket. It's there for you to grab if you wish. No matter what, surely you're a kind enough person to pass it to someone else that is drowning if you don't need it right now for yourself."

I always vape in any smoking area: at hospitals, office buildings, behind restaurants, etc.

For those interested right then, I explain what I do:

I smoked 2-3 (or more) packs a day for 28 years. I spent alot of money ($3-500) buying different kinds of equipment until I found the combination that makes me vape instead of even want to light a cigarette. Now, I help people that want to make a change, Not spend money on equipment and supplies that don't fit their smoking habit. I have every intention of enjoying my nicotine every day just like my caffeine for the remainder of my life. No big deal. I eat fried foods, too. Not giving those up either.

There's a bit of a learning curve. When I got my first "kit," I just stared at all the pieces and tried to decipher the little Chinese instruction card. I figured it out, but the more I researched, the more I learned I could save even more money and have even more fun. I was very determined to find some alternative to smoking cigarettes, and I realize not everyone is going to go any further than that first unsatisfying purchase, then say, "I tried ecigs, and they're not for me." So, here's my mission: Let as many smokers as possible know there is a vaping alternative to smoking cigarettes that will satisfy their particular ritualized habit. Some method and equipment combination that will change their habit rather than eliminate it.

I ask that they or anyone they know please call or email me before they spend a penny on anything. (I'm totally impartial about this, but I do know a 150mah battery kit isn't going to work for a 2+ pad smoker.)

From there, when they ask, I explain my particular business: I train individuals and groups on what pvs are and how they work. I let them try different systems, methods (i.e. cartos, dripping, etc), and flavors(!) in their home or office. My deal is they give me 30 days to "get it right." That means communicating and follow-ups. At the end of 30 days, if they call and say, "This just isn't going to work for me," then I'll buy back their hardware. They can't buy back my time or the juice (I have to throw it away), but I'll buy back any undamaged batteries and attys. (unopened cartos, etc)

...This is getting long.

Read every bit of it. Nice idea dude, I really hadn't thought of handing out a stack of the CASAA's cards to a place that might be willing to give them out to smokers.

I dunno why haha I hadn't thought to do this:blink: but now that you've brought it to my attention I get tons of those CASAA cards with a lot of my orders. Thanks a lot for this.

Antlion, hope you plaster your area with flyers!

Other stuffing ideas:

--The literature displays in health care offices, waiting rooms, exam rooms... Just stand some flyers up in there. No one pays much attention to these anyway, unless they're looking for something!

--Inside magazines in any waiting area: doctor's office, beauty salon, car repair, etc. Learned there are some people that think they're doing a public service by "cleaning up" any unapproved literature off coffee tables. Of course, I've seen those same people step over a piece of trash on the floor in order to perform this service.

--The child seat/purse setting spot in shopping carts. People pick things here up out of habit. "Is there a sale I didn't know about?"

--Any public seat you vacate. Next person's gotta pick it up :2cool:

Yes, I'm very aware that some and/or all of these techniques infringe on someone's advertising/copyright/property/personal space/peace of mind 'rights.' Those indignant folks are welcome to add their name to the "BS Menace to Society Petition." I forget the url

You feel needed!!!

I love these calls:

"This thing isn't working! I don't know what I did, but this blinks... Then, I did this..."

I can here desperation and a lighter flicking in the background (okay, this is an exaggeration, but...).

"I'm at W---M--- getting ready to do my grocery shopping. And I just don't know what I did wrong." (Now this particular lady lives about 40 miles from my home. W---M--- is 3 minutes.)

"Did you run over any pedestrians on your way to the store?"

Quizzical, "No?"

"Then I'm guessing whatever's going on is 'fixable!' So, go ahead and do your shopping, I'll be there."

"I'm so sorry to bother you..."

"Come on, lady! Would you really rob me of my Purpose in Life?! I thought you were so Sweet! Take a deep breath -- I know you're not used to that, but your lungs can handle it now. I'll see you in a few minutes."

"Thank you." I could here the deep breath. Really. And... no, lighter flicking sound in the background now.
