I don't know what temp the atomizers get to, but caffiene burns at 237c, and boils (vaporizes) at 178c. I think anything lower than that would just cause it to collect on the cart and atomizer.

I'm sorry if this has already been addressed.

A dry atty coil can exceed 650C if activated for several seconds.
Of course liquid contacting the coil will decrease the coils temperature ramp preventing your atty from getting that hot in practical use.

PG boiling point is 188C, similar to caffeine BP, so I don't see coil temp being a problem..

Ok, I've seen several posts by folks stating that they could go for caffine-laced e-liquid.

So, as a zero-nic vaper .. I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if they'd be willing to share their experience.

I've seen a web-page with an experiment where they converted caffine powder to gas in an acrylic cube and let people "sniff" the vapor through holes. ([KONTEJNER])

I would think that vaping would be a similar experience, and I'd like to get my "hit" in the morning without having to dring a pot of coffee.

Caffine powder 100% is easy enough to come by, but I'd just like to get confirmation before I drop $$ on purchasing some.

Anyone?

-> insert standard disclaimer about mixing stimulants <-

Warning---Smoking S.E.A. grade caffine tastes terrable, (and a little like somthing else). And it leaves a residue that will clog your atty.

Oh...will the FDA still let us drink coffee???
(sry for the OFF T)
, 4 now. but ur home coffee cups will have to say "caution Hot" on them from now on.
ON t :Coffee e-juice and a cup of coffee does the job just fine.
just add 3 times as much grounds to the pot like me, and you'll be fine. Figuratively speaking.

I'm very skeptical that the atomizers of those that have detailed attempting this are vaporizing much of the caffeine. There is a single report on Erowid of someone vaporizing caffeine powder with a torch.

"12.5mg was the only amount I've smoked and was deffinatly not fun. It reminded me of the time I took 1 gram except it only lasted 5 minutes. I placed 12.5 mg in the pipe and melted the powder with a butane torch. The smoke tasted a chemical/sweet taste. I exhaled and waited 15 seconds before I got extremely hyper for 45 seconds and came down. If I wish to smoke caffeine again I would have to say 500mcg or 1mg would be a better dose."

If those who tried vaping with an atomizer did not experience any adverse effects, this leads me to believe that not even a single milligram is actually being vaporized.

Ok so the curiosity got to me. This is what I have done.

I took an 8 ounce glass jar with a screw on lid(mason jar, jelly jar, etc).
I put in 2 Luzianne Family sized tea bags. Was an unflavored tea came in a red box.
I added 6 ounces (or roughly 120ML) of distilled water to the jar. Close the lid and shook.
Let it sit on my kitchen counter for about 12 hours shaking about once an hour or so.
I then put the jar in my fridge for another 12 hours.
Using a rubber band and a coffee filter I poured the contents of the jar into a large glass measuring cup. After getting all the liquid out I removed the tea bags and the old filter and threw them away(no squeezing done). I then put a fresh filter on the jar mouth and poured it back into the original jar(after cleaning and drying). Was left with about 4 ounces of dark mixture. Sealed the jar again and put it back in the fridge for another 12 hours (had to go to work).
When I got home I took an unused dropper bottle and drew off 2 ML of NOW VG and used as a base. I added .5 ML of the Tea. To the mixture I added 2 drops of Lemon Juice for a lil kick.
For my test I used a RN4081 with a standard size cart and "virgin" polyfil.Added 5 drops to the cart. Waited for the soak and tried it.
Got a subtle tea flavor. The VG had good vapor. No real throat hit. Maybe I will try adding a touch of Vodka to the mix this weekend. As for the caffeine... I didn't get any rush or anything. Maybe I need more of the mix in there.
I know a few people have asked about caffeine and this seemed like an easy thing to attempt. I will post any changes I make.

Although aox hinted at it, there is a major flaw in vaporizing caffeine which hasn't been mentioned in this thread. Inhaling versus ingesting is a much faster intake, thus a much stronger and quicker buzz. Instead of feeling a bit more lively you'll get jitters and perhaps headaches. It's the same way nicotine patches/gum theoretically work- by slowly absorbing the nicotine, you eventually stop craving the nicotine 'hit' that gives you a rush in a cigarette.

I hate to be a negative voice in this thread, but I do not think vaping caffeine is going to have the desired effects. Some things to realize, some of which have been experienced:

1. Caffeine free-base is very bitter. Chew up a caffeine tablet, like NoDoz.

2. Most people who ingest caffeine need about 100 mg or more to get a desired mental effect. Combine this with the low solubility of caffeine in glycerin or PG and it will require a LOT of vaping to get this much caffeine, and it is not going to taste good at all.

3. Vapor is primarily absorbed orally and in the throat and nose, not the lungs. This includes nicotine in the ejuice.

4. Vaping is not necessarily the best way to take in all of the many compounds we use, like caffeine and vitamins. Drinking a cup of coffee is simply going to work better than vaping 100 mg of caffeine freebase, and with no irritation to the nose and throat.

Nicotine works in quantities far lower than caffeine, as in about 1/100. Nic in the stomach can make you nauseous and give you the runs. Thus smoking, vaping or oral absorption with snus, where the nic is kept mostly in the mouth, are the preferred ingestion methods. Caffeine in quantities needed is fine in the stomach.

I understand the interest in vaping caffeine, if not other compounds, like vitamins, but considering the tastes, quantities needed for desired effects, and possible damage to attys, I think vaping these things is simply not a very good way to ingest them. Besides, ever heard of tea leaves being smoked for caffeine? Caffeine has been ingested for thousands of years, and it is always oral ingestion.

And I think publically discussing the possible vaping of compounds other than nicotine, and I have seen threads here where this includes pharma drugs like antidepressants, basically signals to the FDA that we are crazy druggies willing to inhale anything at all without any knowledge of safety, dosages or even efficacy. I think this path with vaping caffeine is not only not effective, but could possibly backfire on us, and further support a gov't ban on PVs.

Just my :2c:.

Perhaps if they stopped their crusade against nicotine, then people would not be too bothered about alternatives.
Surely they can't think we will stop vaping if they take away nic, surely?
Not a chance in hell.

Ripley,
I have made a Folgers ejuice but I have no idea of the caffeine content- it is black as pitch and slight taste of coffee.
I prefer to get my caffeine via drinking, but did make the coffee juice in the event I am out and can't get my coffee. LOL!
I really have no idea if I get any caffeine when I vape the juice, due to the fact I always have a cup of coffee in hand? I
know that doesn't answer your question. But when I have to go back to work and can't have my coffee- I sure would like
a caffeine eliquid I could vape. No I think I better look into an IV set-up for my coffee, don't think I could vape enough
to keep up with my coffee/caffeine intake.

LOL!! I'm amazed that this thread is still active. I should probably wrap it up by saying I gave up on my idea of creating some amazing caffeine e-liquid. I still have a 3ml vial of solidified "dissolved" caffeine liquid on my desk as a reminder that it was a good concept, but unrealistic implementation. I'm back to good ole java.

Guys, I found this site. I have not personally tried it, but it offers caffeine levels high enough to actually feel an effect. Well, I assume you will be able to feel something: at the highest caffeine amount, it says you will get 6.4mg per hit, so ten or eleven hits should get you close to a serving size of Red Bull. Check it out. I am going to order some soon (I just loaded up on more eLiquid than I know what to do with, and have to wait until I get paid next), but if anyone tries it, do let me know how it vapes and feels!

Here is the site: Nu-Juice Liquid Refill
