I currently smoke around 20 ultra low nicotine (just 0.1mg) analogs a day. Assuming I don't want to increase my nicotine intake, can anyone work out for me how many mg of e-nicotine I should be taking?

As far as I can work out, the general formula is that 2mg a day of e-nicotine replaces 20 1mg analogs a day. Therefore I should be keeping my intake down to 0.2mg of e-nicotine, is that correct? If it is, seems like I'll have to really have to dilute the e-juice!

That 0.1mg is how much nicotine the testing machine gets. It's not the amount the actual cigarette contains and unlikely to be the dose you give yourself. You could well be getting much more than that.

There are loads of formulas on here that claim to work out your current nicotine intake but the truth is there's no way of knowing for sure. The best thing to do is start low and work up from there if it doesn't hit the spot. Quite a few starter packs come with a box of mixed strength carts to enable you to do this.

bracky1, u identified the precise thing i'm worried about - the fact that beginners seem to to vape so much...i really want, if not control my vape, to at least control my nicotine intake. i will try to smoke as much zero nicotine as i can and maybe just keep the nicotine smoking to those important moments like first thing in the morning and after meals.

Your point is well taken, Scrubadub. Nevertheless, a 0.1mg smoke is still 10 times stronger than a 1mg one and I really don't want to pump any more nicotine into my body than I absolutely have to! But I think you are right in that I'll just have to work out my level through trial and error.

It isn't necessarily 10 times stronger floyd. A lot of the differences are in the filter construction and studies have shown that smokers unconciously alter the way they smoke to get the required nicotine level. Have a look on Google for 'Cambridge Filter Method' and you'll see how flawed the system is. In fact the industry is being made to drop it due to the numbers being virtually meaningless.

You're right to be cautious and there have been cases on here of people getting into trouble diving head first into the 36mg end of the scale. Starting off at the zero-low end of things is the best you can do if you're worried. However to get things into some perspective, nicotine inhalers have 10mg in each cartridge with an average of 4mg being consumed by the user. Doctors have no problem with you sucking on those all day.

I think ur right srubadub. i was originally smoking 0.5mg with the filter ripped out. then i progessed to 0.1 with filter removed. finally, i stopped removing the filter. but i also found that not only was i smoking more fags, but i was taking much deeper drags to compensate. in fact, i was a bit shocked to discover this evening that i am smoking a ... right down to the filter on just 7-8 drags!!

I also smoke ultralights. Most people say they get less of a hit from vaping than analogs, but I have the opposite experience. The nicotine in vaping hits me much harder than analogs. Just to remind you that it REALLY varies from person to person, best to start low and add from there.

I fill carts with a mix of Zero and Low (11mg) eliquids, that wimpy mix seems to work OK for me.

lol - blimey! Who needs filters anyway. :)

Sounds like you're definitely used to a bit more nicotine then you thought floyd. Sounds like you'll be fine on your current plan, you may even find it a tad lacking ;)
