I've been smoke free for 52 day's, and the past two days have been rough.

Nothing's changed really, but I've been craving a cigarette. I don't know why. Sometimes I think it's the ritual I miss more than the actual cigarette.

I upped my nicotine from 24 to 36, and it sort of helped I guess. I also had to use some snus while smoking my e-cig. I even had to go and sit on my stoop like I use to when I smoked. Just doing my old smoking routine seemed to get me through, but it was tough.

I thought I was in the clear after 50 some days, but I guess after 15 years of smoking I should expect at least a year or two of constant cravings.

I still hope the day comes when I can socially smoke while drinking or out with friends and not completely fall off.

Stay strong man! I hate to do it, but I feel I have to; I'm going to pull the food card on ya. That craving you're feeling isn't the nicotine, it's the disgusting taste/ritual of the traditional cigarette. Sort of like when you go for a few months without your favorite dish and then see someone who is eating it at a cafe or restaurant you walk by. Or like in the middle of winter you happen to smell a waft of a mouth watering steak just sizzling on the grill in someone's backyard. You know you want the steak, but damn is it cold outside/you don't have a grill! The craving will pass, just try not to think about it; or better yet, treat yourself to a steak :p

Exactly - when I broke for cigs it was because I saw others doing it and smelled the burnt smell. I wanted to taste that disgusting, burning feeling just for nostalgia I guess. Just stick with it and try a new flavor to mix it up.

Keep up the great work cassavetes! I'm in the 70ish day mark here. Every day can be a struggle, but you're doing the right things. Mix things up a bit, try and keep your focus on vaping, old habits die hard, as they say.

Just to share a quick story with you. My main PV died a little over a week ago, and I didn't have a backup (at all) for a whole day. I was lucky enough to have had another PV already enroute, and received it the next day. I was able to use those little mini snus pouches to get me by without having to go out and get analogs. Was it tough? Yes it was, because the nicotine in those little snus pouches is fairly low, but I made it! Getting back to vaping after not having it for almost 24 hours was a huge relief for me.

I would be willing to bet that you would find yourself in a similar situation with your PV! In retrospect, analogs are quite the same way. Just keep reminding yourself that you're doing a lot better for your health not breathing in analog smoke.

We're always here if you need us. Keep us informed if you ever run into hard times.

I've been vaping about two months and have been mostly analog free for the last 6 weeks (I smoked two different days when I was without my PV).

I very much like vaping the many different flavors available to me, and I was going days and days without vaping a tobacco flavor. Then one day I had a tremendous craving for a cigarette, not like the little nigs about wanting one for a second or two until I remember that I really dislike analogs now. I realized I'd been going without tobacco flavors for days on end, and started vaping one of my tobacco flavors, The craving subsided.

Since then, I've made it a point to top off a cart with tobacco ejuice for a while before switching to one of the many other flavors I love. Knock on wood - haven't had a strong craving for the last two weeks! Maybe that will keep working for me forever <g>, but if I DO get to that feeling of "I will mug a stranger in the street to grab that filthy, stinking cigarette they are smoking and then it will be mine, all mine!", I'll have to try some other 'different things' to distract me from my craving.

Any one else want to contribute to a list of tips 'n' tricks to interrupt a craving?

Unfortunately I can tell you that you may get those urges for a long time. The last time I quit analogs, I went for 6 years and you would think it got easier.

There were long streches that I never even thought about a analog but there were also times I thought it would drive me nuts. One day I allowed myself a Cuban cigar on vacation and was back to a pack a day in a year.

Just don't smoke that first analog no matter what, the urge will pass.

I'm with you all. The urges for most never go away completely. I just take it one day at a time and hit some higher lever fluid when the urge gets bad and remind myself why I wanted so badly to quit analogs.

My baby girl turns 34 in December and will be having her first child around Christmas - I want to be around to see him grow up and graduate from college.

Every time I tried to quit smoking before, the cravings I went through were so intense that they turned into anxiety attacks. Because of that, I could never quit.

With e-cigs, my cravings are all mental. Just ghosts of my former addiction, wanting me to go outside after a meal, or right before bed, or those other times when cigarettes were so good. I catch myself when those times pop up, grab my Chuck, and vape the feeling away. It also helps to remind myself while I am vaping that I am feeling much better, my wife and kids are much happier, and I don't have to smoke. Vaping works just fine.

It's not much, but it works for me.

I still get the yen, but I know it's more of a mind thing. The first time I actually gave in and had a cig. I hated the taste, the smell, but at the same time, I enjoyed it. Sounds crazy but after that time, in moments like that, I'd find something to busy myself with and kept busy so all I had time for was a rushed drag here and there.
Remember how much you enjoyed the moment of a job well done with a cig? Well it's just as great with a PV.
When done with whatever I did, I got myself something to drink and my PV.
Some days are high productive days.;)

Bear with me and any typos, I'm sick today and I really didn't plan on doing anything but reading but this post got to me.

Cassvetes, You are doing great and you are doing the right things. I'm just ahead of you at day 54 without a cig and it took me 2 days to smoke the last one. I usually buy the cheap juice or the unflavored and make my own. But I keep a couple bottles of premium juice from Puresmoker in 36mg and it really helps to vape a few drops of it when the craving hits me. I think the great flavor of the good stuff helps a lot with the craving, at least it does for me.

Hang in there, you can and will do this! Keep coming back here and get all the support you need. We've all been there and done that!

I've only been vaping for about two weeks, so I guess I have yet to run into the really bad cravings. The last time I did get one, I just gave in, grabbed one of my remaining analogs from the freezer (they supposedly don't go stale that way), and lit up... and remembered why I gave them up. After a long, full lung inhale like I used to do, I was bent over coughing and wheezing. It tasted nasty, too, like burning, musty leaves. I had to brush my teeth three times to get rid of the taste.

While I am certainly not encouraging anyone to go back to analogs, I've found that the best way to manage my own cravings is to give in and remind myself why I don't like them anymore. If nothing else, it's decent aversion therapy.

bear in mind that once we form an addiction of any kind it will never truly subside because of they way addictions affect the brain. it's kind of like riding a bike (this is the best analogy i could think of lol) once you learn the mind doesn't forget. I have been analog free 4 weeks to the day. even tho I knew I was getting enough nicotine I have still craved a cig every now and then (staring at 2000+ packs of cigs at work every day doesn't help!). I swear nicotine is definitely NOT the only addictive substance in cigs. just my thoughts on the subject
