Hi friends. I've been smoke free for almost 160 days. Although I've been vaping much longer. I have been having some crazy cravings to smoke lately. I haven't gave in. However I dreamed last night I got a pack and smoked in my dream. That's how intense my cravings have been. I don't know what's triggered it. I vape 24 mg juice. Make my own and do my own builds. Things were great but then the cravings hit. I was even thinking no one would know if I just snuck a few..of course I did not do it. Guess I am just wondering why I would be craving so badly so far into not smoking?? Any suggestions. Don't worry I'm not going to smoke. But darn, I don't want to be dreaming of it!! Any help ??:(

Even after all of these years of not smoking, once or twice a year I will have a dream where I am smoking. Some of it is 30 years of one activity vs 4-5 of another, IMO. I also think it can be triggered subconsciously by stress or an emotional memory. It sounds like you are doing all of the right things to stay strong, including making this post. Good for you!! Stay strong.:thumb:

Thank you all for your support. I was a smoker for almost 30 years so I guess it is going to be natural. I've had some extra added stress with my son playing high school football and I've pretty much been a taxi lately. Maybe all that driving is triggering something. Some need to smoke in me. I'm just going to keep on vaping. I'd absolutely hate to ruin all this time I've had! Again thank you!

It is a Mental Obsession teamed with a Physical Compulsion/addiction. Same thing happens to people that quit drinking and other substances.

When I quit drinking, 22+ years ago and counting, I had drinking and drunk dreams. One was so vivid I had a headache when I woke up and had to retrace my steps from the night before.

The body and mined can and will do some very strange things to get you to go back to whatever substance you are trying to quit.

Good thing is eventually those dreams will stop.

Some people even go to Smokers anonymous to help with giving up cigarettes and they say it has helped.

Maybe you should give it a try. It can't hurt.

I have had "the dream" and I was really really liking it. Deep long drags that were satisfying and tasted GREAT!

Thing of it is, it didn't and it wouldn't. While I am conscious I know dam well it doesn't and it won't. Last time is did, it was a less than satisfying experience, tasted bad and was way too mild, didn't even feel like I was getting a hit. Smoking is for weanies :) Vaping just takes it to an all new level!

I am coming up on my 3 year smoke free anniversary and even after all this time the "I would like to smoke a smoke" feeling tries to weasel its way into my mind. Fortunately it is a fleeting thought. Smokes were my security blanket for 45 years. Hang in there. Those thoughts should get fewer and farther apart as time goes by.

I've only been tobacco free for 37 days and I've already had three dreams in which I've been smoking. Curiously, I felt ashamed in my dream and almost panicked when I awoke that I fell off the wagon. It was a huge relief each time when I realized it had been a dream. I've had about a half dozen waking cravings to smoke - a couple of them very, very strong. I smoked a PAD for 27 years (started my PAD habit at age 15). I really enjoyed smoking and suspect I still would - but, I'm not giving in.

On a related note, I smoked the "other" leafy substance for many years and still have dreams about it 15+ years after giving it up. I can't imagine what my dreams will be like if I ever manage to quit drinking, lol.

I haven't had a smoking dream yet but I have gluten dreams. I have Celiac and maybe once a week I'll have a dream where I either eat something with gluten in it by choice or someone forces me too. It's very strange as I never have cravings for food so I think it's more of a fear thing. Might be the same thing with smoking.

I have really huge experience in quitting smoking. I had gone smoke free for month (up to 9 month). Craving never has gone away. I was living with a dream, a dream to smoke (especially after a beer, and even more so after 0.5L of bourbon). I was quitting smoking for years. And dreaming. Sooner or later I made a dream come true and resumed smoking for a while. And so on…

About 5 month ago I became a vaper. After one month of vaping I have bought a pack of cigarettes. I have smoked about one half of it and put the rest in trash bin. One month later I bought another pack. Just two cigarettes were enough, I saw I do not need them anymore, so they have gone to the trash again (but, please let me remind you, I am proficient in quitting smoking). So, already for 3 month I do not have any cravings anymore. However, I am not sure at all that people without my experience can put away a pack of cigarettes easily…

Please, do not buy cigarettes. When vaping your cravings are just a weak dream. Not a necessity at all. Please, learn from other peoples mistakes.

Yep, yep and yep! Congrats on the quitting. I had my 28 year anniversary last month. I'd have drinking dreams. Some so vivid that to this day I'm not sure if I actually did even knowing I didn't. Also like realsis, I've had the "Nobody would know if I had one."

Addictions is a big King Snake just waiting for us...

For realsis:
Congrats on staying off the cigs! Keep on keeping on!
