I had so much fun wrapping my mini, I wanted another one to play with.

(I wasn't allowed to have Barbies when I was little)
She is just 17, so will be 18 and very soon be off to college and old enough to be making her own decisions and choices.
On one hand I don't want to be contributing to her possibly gaining a new "learned behavior" (vaping non-nicotine e-liquid) that might be habit forming (if only in the sense of being dependent psychologically, and that is not a proven fact). I know, that point is debatable and controversial all in itself. This is likely my own biased thought process affecting my feelings on this subject.
On the other hand, she will be old enough to make an informed decision herself. She's well aware of the pitfalls of tobacco and smoking. She's also seen her older friends smoking and vaping socially. These friends of hers (18 and over) had frequently seen me vaping my mods and went out on their own without any assistance from me and found some sort of e-cigs online to purchase and use in place of cigarettes. I have to admit I admire their choice to vape instead of smoke that they made at that age. Best choice would have been to do neither, I know, but such is not human nature.
My daughter has always asked to try my new flavors, which I obliged. But her experience vaping has been limited to that. Not unlike allowing a teen a taste of wine or champaign from time to time even though underaged in this country. Then she would always say she wanted her own device, which I would always reply with, "Once you are eighteen, you'll be old enough to buy your own." Well, that day will very soon be upon us.
I'd rather she vape no-nicotine flavors than smoke, like many of her friends, and as I said, like her 19 year old brother does. If I know that she is going to vape regardless of what mixed feelings I may have of that, I feel obligated as her father with a vast knowledge of e-cigs to offer my knowledge of which ones would best fit her expectations and situation.

My daughter wants her own mod to vape no-nicotine, flavored e-juice. She is a non-smoker, so I am in a personal flux on whether to get her one for her upcoming birthday to keep her from smoking like many of her friends and her brother (my son).
I've been thinking of getting her an Altsmoke BB with a couple of cartotanks and some non-nicotine e-juice. Thoughts?
I'm so glad I don't have kids.

kikiashelle said:My personal opinion, (Im 23 started smoking analogs when I was 19) is that she would be way more unlikely to EVER go to analogs if she is vaping. BECAUSE who wants to inhale an ashtray when you can vape deliciousness? The only possible problem would be her getting juice with nic in it. But honestly I would rather have my child vaping rather than smoking anyday. Its a very difficult decision, but it would probably be better to get her a quality device that will last, a no nic juice, before she has to make the decision to nic or not. If she finds nic free satisfying and loves it she will be less likely to switch. Also since you have experience she would enjoy the experience much better working with you about learning about delivery devices etc. Also instead of creating a war, you two can bond together over this. If she really wants one, I would get her started now, on nic free and make it fun. If her friends are already doing it, she's probably going to follow, so make it as safe as you can Good luck, I don't envy your position. But (if you are married) I would also discuss this with your spouse lol. Or a war will be sure to follow anyways.

You may, or may not want her to vape. You stated she wants her own mod. I have to believe she has thought about this or she would not have asked for her own mod.
You stated her friends smoke. Her brother smokes. She is exposed to smoking and if I were you, I would do anything I could to prevent her from joining them. If she starts vaping, I don't think she will be inclined to gag her way through a pack of cigarettes. She may serve as a role model and get some of her friends off cigs and into pv's.
This is a chance for you to be proactive for your daughter. You & I did not have this chance when we were growing up. Get it ready. Be prepared, so you Can be proactive in your daughters health and life choices.
wandawag said:ok-here is my dollars worth (inflation). because you have an open and honest communication with your daughter (congrats on that alone), i would go for it. you can be her mentor and teach her everything she needs to know. even if she decides to go to a nic level later...so be it...at least she did not cave to the peer pressure of the stinkies. hopefully, she will stick to o nic...and if she does, wonderful. this is important to her or she would not have asked for it. just imagine how many more friends she can convert...and she will then be the peer pressure to vape, not smoke! go for it dad.
Ocelot, I totally appologize for hijacking your thread. This wasn't my intention when I mentioned my issue with my daughter, it was sort of added as an afterthought in my reply.

Thanks everyone for their input. The response so far seems to be headed in the direction of being pro-active with getting my daughter her own PV and 0-nicotine e-liquid. This has been the direction that I was leaning toward also.
I've decided to get her a BB setup with batteries, charger, and a couple of cartotanks, and some 0-nicotine juice in the flavors she had told me she most liked.
I have to point out that this is a change of direction for me since it involves my own family member. Before this, I had been critical of any non-smoker considering using an e-cig device, whether with nicotine or not. This was based primarily on how it would look to anti-ecigarette types like ANTS. I'm to the point now that I don't care what they say, they are all ignorant idiots.
Being that it is my own daughter, I've been willing to have a more open mind and be able to see the broader picture of things in this situation. Every situation should be considered by the particular circumstances involved IMO. One of my biggest regrets in life was picking up smoking. If I can somehow contribute to my daughter not following in those footsteps, perhaps I will have done a good thing.

Because you liked your first Prothingy so much?
I'm still debating to get myself a second Provari (Mini this time). But I have another issue I'm struggling with.
Thoughts?
If you get the BB for her just tell her not to leave it in the gym locker where it might fire. (Sorry bro. Just thinking about your mishap when yours ruined the battery.)
I already told her about it recently, and just like her she remembered when I had had my mishap and had told her about it then. She said it should be safe in her purse, but I cautioned her that she still needed to either remove the "topper" or remove the battery when she wasn't using it. I have an old eGo-type case she can have, too.
I'm debating whether to have her use cartotanks or some clearotanks. Probably will let her try both to see which she prefers. I know she'll like the flavor of the cartotanks over the clearo's, but I can also imagine as a busy college student not having the time or patience required for proper cartotank setup. My thoughts here are the clearotanks are pretty much fill and go, easy peasy.
I can easily see her converting more and more of her smoking friends over to vaping. She's quite the natural saleswoman.![]()
