I plug my Elite charger into the extension cord and noticed that charging light indicator after a while turns yellow rather than green, and also flickers from red to green/yellow and back to red...e.t.c. Does the charger has to be plugged directly into the outlet rather than extension cord?
Can charging the wrong way harm your batty?

I really wouldn't think an extension cord would be a problem unless it's really small and long. Of course, it also depends on the charger and batteries to an extent. What size batts are you charging?
Not if the cord is good. The chargers will do funny stuff when you first turn them on. I usually wait until they have been on a sec before plugging in the battery. But if you get winking lights then maybe your extension cord has a bad contact or an intermittent connection. If in doubt try it with out that or on another outlet just to check.
Oops - just noticed the "Elite". I assume this is the wall-wart type charger? These shouldn't draw more than a few mA from the outlet/extension cord. I think that it is much more likely that your extension cord is worn out (no longer gives a good, tight connection to your charger).
