Noob here looking for some advice from veteran vapers-

I have landed on a hardware setup that I am really happy with... for now. The itaste MVP with a KayfunLite +

Im now on to finding the ideal juice that suits me in terms of flavor and blend of PG/VG and nic level. Ive already discovered that I need to step down the nic because im vaping so much more often with my new setup (because it works so great, and I don't think ill ever be stuck with a dead battery with this MVP)

My plan is to order some unflavored PG and unflavored VG to experience both of them and see which one I prefer, and how much of each. Ill then know how to order my juice from Mt Baker or ECB and be able to try flavors knowing that I can eliminate the PG VG mixture as a variable in juices that I like or dont.

My main question is what is the best way to sample juices? Do I need to buy an RDA? can I just drip it into my kayfun? Right now my idea is to thread some clean cotton into a 1.8 ish micro coil then saturate it with about 10 drops of the juice in question then put the KFL+ back together and vape it for a few minutes then repeat the process with new cotton and juice.

Thought/advice?

Thanks!

Also, you might want to look into an Igo-l / W or a Hoosier Vapes Trident clone. All of them are under $20, have a ton of potenial as a dripper, and will allow you to test juices on the easy. Make up a 1.5-2.0 ohm micro coil and toss in a cotton wick. Drip until you know your juice, pull the wick out, dry burn, and rewick for a new flavor. I recently discovered dripping, and it's a wonderful cou terpart to using a clearo. Both have their place, and I personally like to keep them seperated. Smoked too much cotton trying to drip in a clearo, lol

Absolutely, you can drip in a Kayfun. Just remove the drip tip and drip. I think I'd prime the cotton upon installation and then follow with 3 or 4 drops dripping. 10 might flood it. Congrats on your new set up. Kayfuns are very hard to beat!

Plus one on this. Its a very yummy vape this way !!

just unscrew the chimney top and drip....screw it back on and vape. Ive done this several times.

Also plus one on the trident clones.....hard to beat for testing flavors ( I DIY)

But both are a good way to do what you want to do. !!

In general, I recommend having an inexpensive RDA in your arsenal. Great way to take a couple of cotton balls to a vape bar and try out flavors. If dripping into a Kayfun, just be careful to know your rhythm for dripping, that small chamber can make for a hellish nightmare of cotton smoke. Never run dry.

Much appreciate the advice. After reading this it seems i'm more inclined to get an RDA, though I may fiddle with the KFL in the mean time. Man as hard as I am trying not to turn this into a full fledge obsession it seems there is no stopping it. Only problem now is finding the right RBA... I blew my wad on my recent purchases and cant afford to go big on the next purchase right away however I did promise myself not to buy any more junk/cheap vaping equipment/supplies.

First look at the Hoosier Vapes Trident clone looks promising and affordable. Any other feedback?

I do this, too ....to make sure coil is good before I commit to filling the tank. It doesn't look the best and its a little wierd using the chimney instead of a drip-tip but it works just fine.

Somebody should come out with an adapter to let you put a drip tip directly on the chimney - and maybe a press-fit chimney top - because it actually works quite well as a dripper

OK, I finally realized what you guys are describing after I re-read this and it makes total sense now. Keep the tank portions off and just draw directly from the chimney, a quick unscrew to refill and your back in business. I like this idea! Thanks.

the nimbus clone - under 15 bucks and one of my fav drippers - clone or not.
The Nimbus RDA

Had some points with mad vapes so I took your advice and ordered one.
I'm curious about clones in general some have got to be better than others. Is EHPro like a "name brand" clone.

I'm getting off topic here with my original question being about the Kayfun but thought i'd report back with the results of my journey so far. I did purchase both the IGO-W and Nimbus clone.

I first decided on the IGO-W, It came pre built with a traditional dual coils over silica. Im not sure if "traditional" describes it correctly- I just mean they were spread coils, not micro or mini or coils with the wraps touching. Based on advice I read, I ordered with (2) pre drilled 2mm intakes. Im assuming they are 2mm each hole? I was first turned off that when I held it under a light and ran my fingers across the dry silica, thousands of particles were dusted into the air. I don't know what silica is but all those sparkling tiny particles didn't look lung friendly, granted when its wet with juice it would prevent much of that from becoming airborne... I think. I decided to juice it up and vape with it. Well it tasted like I pulled a used washcloth out of the bathwater and sucked on it. I did a bunch of mouth puffs, reloaded it with juice and tried again- same result. I couldn't get over it so I pulled the coils, trashed them and built dual micros with cotton. Flavor was back, no wash cloth taste. I vaped a bit then mistakenly burnt the cotton and have put it away ever since. Im thinking maybe there is too much air flow? it just didnt suit me. When I do pick it up again, my plan it to just build one side and plug one air hole. Advice?

I had some points from Mad Vapes and since I no longer get my juice from them I used them on their EH PRO Nimbus clone. Got to give Mad Vapes credit for lightening fast processing & shipping. Again it arrived pre-built, traditional duals over silica. This time I cleaned the aty with alcohol as best I could keeping the coils intact. Man was I surprised to find A LOT of black residue on the inside of the cap. I juiced it and vaped it. Much more pleasing airflow, these are stock. Im guessing 1mm or smaller intake holes. Same crappy taste. I have not tried this one yet with micro/cotton.

I have to say, had one of these been my first experience with rebuilding I would have given up and stuck to cartomizers. I have been super happy with the KFL+ and much more now having experienced this with the drippers. In fairness, both of these are clones and I haven't put diligent time in tinkering with them. Maybe dripping isn't for me? Maybe Im a "kayfun snob" already. I could see something like "mac vs pc" mentality developing. I, from this point forward will always look at the kayfun as being a device that "just works" and works well and is reliable. The drippers are for folks who don't mind fooling around with them, going through some bad ones and arriving a what they like and are continuing to modify.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading.
