You could try to take the silver part (The button and button holder) out of the picture and just push the little button down inside to see if that is really the problem. You may not be able to use it like that but you could at least test it out....

I know you know how to put it all back together....lol

hehehehehehe ya, I was proud of me. lol

Okay so in doing so, what am I looking for when I do what you just said?

This may be comming kind of late, but have you tried cleaning the threads and the brass contacts? Those are the symptoms I get when there is a bad contact somewhere is the PV. It really makes a big difference when everything is making good contact. When I start getting poor performance the first thing I do is remove the atty and be sure that I clean the juice out. If needed I continue to clean the entire systems threads.

Also I have had a real high defect rate on the bats I get from Deal Extreme. I bought my first 10 bats from them and had 3 DOAs.

I hope some of this helps.

I really think you should send them a few of your batteries with the Protege so they can see if they are not the problem... .not that they are bad but the length of them may be causing the troubles you are having... I would think the extra length is causing some issues with your adaptors tightness.... just my $0.02...

Good idea submitting a ticket ... I am sure Steve will sort you out soon and you will be happy he did...

Ok, let's clear a few things up real quick-

The phenolic switches are NOT shiny black! The phenolic switches will appear brownish/black and the texture will be uneven and pitted a bit. It almost looks like it was rolled in sand on the bottom, but this is very subtle.

Lucky, it sounds like your button just isn't centered on the switch. Simply pop out the switch, button, and silver button housing, and re-center the button and button housing on top of the switch. Pop it back in, and that should fix what you're talking about. I say this because last time you popped the switch out, this did the trick, and sometimes things just "shift in flight" so they say.

For the switch- it operates like the Prodigy. Therefore, it must be pressed below flush to activate (this was to avoid accidental pocket pressing, etc!). So to some, this may feel "tougher" than others.

Let me know how this goes, and we'll go from there. Remind me again- were you one of the first Protege orders? (I'm thinking you were, but can't remember everything all the time!)

I have a 510 nico stick I pulled out and slammed the same batty in that and the same atty and it's vaping like a smoke stack full power like a charm. I really do think it's the switch. I'll use this to tide me over.

That's the best kind of diagnosis. Looks like you are in good hands. I am hanging on to my nicosticks too.

Casey, I did that, I took it all out and put it back together and the same thing happens. I push the silver button and nothing. Have to push hard to get it to sizzle. Using the same batty and atty between this and the nico stick. Nico stick goes full power and tons of vapor and no problem. Put the stuff all back on this and it's like hardly any power and have to push hard.

I'll get your ticket going tomorrow. You can go ahead and send the unit in to us so we can get you all fixed up. Sorry for all the back and forth- just want to make sure we covered all of our bases! Please send a few batteries as well so we can take a look. If the switch is phenolic, that would explain everything- but if not, then we'll have a bit more testing to do.

So you want me to send the whole protege and a few batteries, correct? No adapters right?

Yes, so perhaps your adapter or one of your atomizers could be shorting things out? Can't tell until we see it- but every once in a while I'll find an adapter that just causes the switch to leak voltage. Steve and I still can't figure out why- it's very bizarre. Might be that, but we won't know until we see it. Keep you posted!
