Yeah, I know… it’s Airline policy. But will it set off that smoke alarm in there? Will Sky Marshals jump from overhead compartments and haul my furry ... to the cargo hold? I’m just askin’ in case I see someone go in there to vape so I can report the devious ....... to the proper authorities of course.

Hey. Vapes on a Plane! That just came to me. I'm real funny.

From everything I've read the smoke alarms in the bathroom will detect the vapor visually with sensors.
I do know I've set my own house's smoke alarm off by blowing vapor into it.
Look into stealth vaping techniques. I vape pretty much anywhere, the setting only dictates whether I blow clouds or double inhale and blow out no vapor.
I have not been on a plane since I started vaping so I can't say from experience. Just be careful, getting caught on a plane would most definitely suck.

Well yes it can - we actually had an ECF-er take one for the team on this and try it.

If you do vape on planes in the seating area, then just cover yourself with a blanket, make like you're going to sleep and blow it down your shirt - blowing down your shirt also works in the loo. But you dont get a lot of joy from it by the fear of being busted. :) Higher PG vs VG will also help make the vapor a little less.

Probably...That's what nic gum/lozenges are for. Airplanes are one of the very few places I consider "no vape" zones. And if anyone knows me, I liberally exercise my (courteous, respectful, and barely noticeable) vaping privileges in many locations.

Good call, i feel like it may be more trouble than it's worth. people get so sensitive when they're on an airplane.

You're not supposed to but I have . .once. It was pretty annoying, actually . .you're closed in that tiny space, bouncing around and having to extreme stealth vape . . plus I actually had to go to the bathroom as well.

I much prefer to vape when I change planes . .sometimes in the bathroom but usually just in some gate area that's not currently being used. I have stealth vaped in my seat as well during night flights where there was nobody sitting directly next to me. I fly the same route a lot so I pretty much know the routines and when the attendants aren't going to be looking, lol.

Probably has something to do with being 30,000 feet in the air in a metal tube with little glide capability and if anything goes wrong it will be about 5 minutes of sheer terror before dying.

It would depend entirely on what kind of smoke detector is in there, and considering the age of the fleets in service - and their smoke detectors - I wouldn't try it. If it's the old type that relies on what is "sees" passing between a sensor - the type that can't differentiate between smoke and steam - you won't be doing any more vaping on that flight. Or maybe not any flying in the future at all. A few hours of Nic-O-Gum isn't the worst thing that could happen to you.

You wanna get a senior Flight Attendant, all the FA's working under him/her, and a couple pilots really ...... off? Set off a smoke detector and see how you get treated for the rest of the flight.
