A regular multimeter will not read the PWM signal the Vmax or other 33Hz devices run at, neither will the one linked at madvapes. You will need an oscilloscope, or a meter which will read RMS.

To get an idea of where you are running, here is a review. There is a language selection on the left, but you can see the charts:

Vmax-Clone UniQ UMAX V1 aka ProMaxV Prototyp » Mountain Prophet

For example, it shows the VMax set at 3.0v with 2.6 ohms actually putting out 4.65v...

lol oh thats right. i forgot PWM was still a thing.

PBusardo shows similar results in his review of the VMax:

A PBusardo Review - The V-Max by SmokTech - All About Vapor - YouTube

EDIT: Actually, the one he reviewed is more accurate than the first I linked, but, it is still all over the place.

All I can suggest is to purchase some attys / cartos of higher resistance to suit your particular device... The closer to 3.0 ohms, the better IMO.. Your device may be running like the 1st review, or PB's, or somewhere in the middle.. Without a scope, there's no way to tell.

EDIT 2: You could always get a Vamo or something similar for an inexpensive price. It will give you more flexibility, and a better vaping experience than what you have now.

I purchased this from an Ebay seller. I mentioned the fact to him that it was running a LOT hotter than my 3.4 Ego even set to 3v (and I was wanting something that produced LOWER power), that it came with 900mah batteries instead of 1500mah as advertised, that it didn't have the display options as described in the menu, and didn't take Ego style tanks as advertised (and as, I've heard, the latest Vmax will actually do). I'm hoping he will either knock some off the price or let me return it.

Sounds like a Vamo might be a better fit for me. Who has the best price on that for a kit that includes batteries and a charger?

It actually depends on the duty cycle. At about 11w and higher these types will read effective voltage. This is in VW mode, I believe VV mode may work at even lower voltage.

But you are right if he's using VW at 8W, that voltmeter won't read.

This ^^

Make sure the RMS option is selected on your VMax.. You will have a choice between RMS and Mean. Your newer version VMax (V2) should have it. You may be surprised at the difference. :)

EDIT: It should be the 8th menu option..
I was just thinking that...is the VMax running w/o RMS...most "newer" VV/VW run with RMS rather than mean...and I hear people say the RMS makes for a better vape (RMS does the pulsing for you thus the "rattlesnake" sound from Vamo's and such...Provari pulses at a much higher rate so you can't hear it)

Here's a Vamo V3x for $45.99.. (It has a link for batteries / charger there) I recommend the IMR type, they will be the best for the Vamo IMO.. Free shipping over $50.00. :)

Vamo V3x Stainless (Tube Only)

EDIT: Don't pay attention to some of the higher mAh numbers you see on some of the cheaper batteries.. They are over-rated just to sell them in many cases.. The Efest IMR's sold above have the high-amperage, and safe-chemistry the Vamo needs to perform well, and be safe. ;)

Well I'm trusting you guys. :) I ordered the stainless one, a set of batteries, and a charger. I'll either return this VMAX or re-sell it. I know I'm an anomaly with vapers, but this thing just has way too much power for me.

Good choices for someone new IMO.. :) I would return the VMax if you could. Steer-clear of e-Bay for batteries and vape-gear as a general rule. Be sure to post back when everything arrives to let us know how you like it. I think you will be pleased. :vapor:

Or too much power for the cartos you are using. If you can't return it, don't despair, hang on to it for a emergency spare. Pick up one or two 4.0 ohm attys or if you get into building your own coils, make one. If the mod will operate, putting out some sort of voltage, there is a coil that will work. By next year you'll have more than enough experience to find a use for almost anything.

Does anyone here have this stainless V3 from BombVapod? I am curious about the top cap? Is it removeable? The reason I ask is that I am wondering what happens when you screw a BCC Evod style Clearomizer down into the Ego cone threads and then end up accidentally removing the tank from the atomizer base when you try to unscrew the atty from the Vamo.

I dug this info up.. It should be fine.. :)

The new vamo has a top cap dripwell that can be screwed off

oled and removable cap that allows kanger t3's to be used. why couldnt they incorporate both into the old body style...

Sorry to get a little off topic but does a T3 fit on the V3 with the beauty ring attached?

Yes, it does

If the Ego is working well for you but the VMax is burning juice, even at a lower voltage setting, the VMax is messed up. I think that once you get the Vamo and it works properly, the problem will be solved.

Other than that, make sure your wicking material is fully saturated before firing to make sure nothing gets burnt or overheated. You can do this by giving it some time to soak, dripping juice directly on the coil, or taking several "cold hits" (drawing through the clearo/carto without pushing the button) until it starts to gurgle a little.

Here's the thing. In a series circuit (like a PV) all loads receive equal voltage. You could, in theory, add an adapter that "adds resistance", although it would be impossible to add resistance to your coil. It would be a separate load on the battery, and thus have no effect on the resistance of your coil. All it would serve to do is drain your battery faster.

I generally put a couple of drops right on the wicks before screwing it onto a freshly filled tank, cover the air holes, and give it a nice draw prior to firing the button. I usually don't get a fried taste then. It is after holding down the button on the Vmax that I was having the issue.

I reported the Ebay item as having received an item that was not as it was described. Didn't hear back from the guy. I'll give him another
48 hours and then leave some neutral ratings and some negative comments and just re-sell it to someone looking for more power.

I got the Stainless Vamo V3 today. Really liking it. Using a 4.5w setting. Can't figure out how to get the top cap off though. I also heard concerns about the threads. Is that a problem with the Stainless V3?

They must have changed something, because my Vamo (don't know which version) didn't have a top cap, just an indented ring to make it LOOK like one.
