Can someone explain the correlation between temp control mode and wattage?

Love mid afternoon naps! :thumb:

The Sleep function is a personal preference, but the device should not keep asking if a new coil was installed after coming out of a snooze – unless of course a new coil was installed!!

The board continually refines the resistance over time. This allow it to adjust to the environment for a more accurate vape (not in those words, but the general idea). If the mod notes a significant change in resistance from the last use it figures it's gotta be a new coil, because the old one would never change that much, right? (board voice) If it's different by less it can't be so sure and may prompt you if your want to use the same resistance as before, or update it. That's what it's really asking for with a new coil prompt. You can of course lock the resistance, but then you lose the whole refining thing which is good to have, or you can go into eScribe and change the defaults on when to prompt for a new coil. NOTE: if you make changes be aware that when you do change coils in the future you better make sure to resample the resistance yourself or it will get very wonky on you.

I've never had the problem you describe, and I can't recall what the default is supposed to be. Best bet is to head over to the Evolv forum and ask around so you don't reset anything outside the envelope. Then again, might not be that simple in your individual case, but possibly a funky connection to the mod, so recheck and clean the 510 connector on the mod and tank as well as the grub screws before tackling advanced electronic TC software programming, even if you did sleep in a Holiday Inn last night.

Follow up to the above. I've been educated by a member here that the C series boards no longer do continual refinement of the resistance. Took me by surprise as I just assumed and never checked the eScribe settings that would suggest such a change. My apologies for outdated info (the earlier bon-C boards did it).

So toss that part out. Still leaves the problem if the constant prompting unexplained but at least is now updated and more accurate info. My bad.

@DeloresRose – when was the last time you connected to Escribe? The lock function can be turned off under the Safety tab. But the constantly asking for new coil sounds like a bug to me. Perhaps a update is due.

Never. I kind of feel like if I have to fix it when it’s brand new, it’s faulty. That’d be like buying a new car and it needs a tune up and a front end alignment. Anything I should need to adjust I should be able to do on the screen. Seems like that’s the whole point of these fancy, expensive chip sets.

Not necessarily. If you get a new phone or computer you have to enter all the settings to match your preference as well as migrate over stuff you want like contacts, photos, videos, etc. Sure, a phone has a big screen so you can type on it and has internet access and obviously a computer comes with a keyboard and mouse or touch pad. These devices are little computers. For the DNA chip it is quite similar to that used in many cellphones, just programmed differently. So that sort of flexibility is what makes it not only perform well but be easy to customize to your exact preferences. Hooking up to eScribe is a feature that's part of the DNA package. Using it isn't "fixing" something, it's making something work the way you prefer, and it's that flexibility you paid for.

With the C series and a good theme many settings can be done on mod. But there is a limit to the amount of information you can enter with only 3 keys or even a joystick. Dicodes makes exceptional products that perform as well as if not better than a DNA based board but check out the menu system. It's a nightmare to get used to for changing a simple setting. The combo of a DNA with eScribe is easier in many ways over very complex menus that still might not let you get to some obscure setting that matches your needs.

I’m just saying, anything I need to change or alter in any way on my Lustro, I can do it on the mod and the menu is very easy to use. And that’s got more features than any of my mods, including the touch free ( which is silly) and the flashlight ( not quite as silly).

I can see using escribe if you really want to get down to the nooks and crannies (which I don’t, because for me they vape just fine as they are) but for sleep mode? No. That ought to be accessible.

@DeloresRose I think that what folks are meaning with DNA mods, is that you use Escribe to update the firmware/software of the chipset.

They're referred to as service packs.

As Evolv keeps on tweaking the firmware/software over time with bug fixes, new features and optimisations.

So, it's worth connecting DNA mods to Escribe every once in a while.

But if you want a high end chipset mod that you can tweak most settings on the mod, you're looking at YiHi.

And for advanced tweaking you can use a bluetooth app on high end SX Mini mods, or on all YiHi chipsets you can connect to a computer with SXi (which is also used for firmware/software updates as well).
