I've been around here since the beginning of Jan, and I have read a ton of posts. I'm an eGo user at the moment, but I am interested in mods, but I have no idea what some of them are and how they differ from some of the others. I understand variable voltage, and what a standard tube or flashlight type mod is, but the rest seems to be jumbled for me.

I've seen some that are some sort of small plastic box with a button in many online youtube reviews.

Ive seen terminology of roughstack, bottom feeders, top feeders, monkey boxes...some talk of stacked batt mods and really, I'm just lost in all of this. If someone could give me a basic rundown of mods (types and what they offer, and what type threading they have) it would really be appreciated.

bottom feeder - typically a box shaped-mod that contains a juice bottle attached via tube and/or needle to the atomizer connection, so that squeezing (aka 'squonking') the bottle results in juice being supplied to the atomizer or cartomizer or whatever

top feeder - exactly like the bottom feeder except that the juice is dripped down through the top of the atomizer/cartomizer or whatever

stacked battery mod - any mod containing 2 or more batteries "stacked"

roughstack - the model or brand name of a type of basic tube mod

monkey boxx - the model or brand name of a type of box mod (comes in several configurations)

essentially the basic types of mod are tube and box. within those types there are additional words and phrases to describe how they work or special features they contain, for instance bottom feeding/top feeding, mechanical/electronic, etc. spend some time browsing here and Best e-Cig Mod List | e-Cig Mods Database to get a good overview of what's out there.

it is totally normal to be bewildered at first, there's just too much info and stuff to absorb quickly. take your time and in a few hours or days or weeks it will all be clear :)

Please feel free to PM me if I can help with questions. I was in exactly your shoes not very long ago at all.
