Can we have a recap on expected items and improvments? Also what realistic improvment idea do you have?

So far, I know we are waiting for a multi-battery charger. (whats the ETA on that btw?)

What have you seen mentioned around these parts lately?

I know things like this are not developed overnight... But it would be nice to know the progress of development on items that do not have a trade secret or unique design that can not be revealed.. (like a mod... ahem.. lol)

As for a realistic improvment idea.... Would it be possible to re-design the connector and make the connector's center post adjustable? I've seen 901/808 to 510 adapters (and vice versa) have it.

It not only would create adjustable air flow, but would fix alot of issues us new auto users are having with needing to raise the center post up after a re-charge.

Also, a rapid USB charger would be cool... (and a life saver when all batteries are dead)

The ability to regulate airflow is something I'm keen on as well. Other cartos sellers/makers are using a lot of LR elements which I think would work great with more airflow. Hotter burn but more air passing so it mitigates any increased batt drain and incoming air keeps temps down, and I've been told that the 2Ohm LR elements are not really big on draining like the 1.8.

I would really love to see a threaded carto where you could remove the whole guts for cleaning and repacking. Just thread the batt end, knurl it right there so you have a grip, and you can take it out and replace wadding if you need to (even upgrade it as time goes by), wipe down any sugars built up on your element, etc. Seems a shame to hav this nice metal canister, silicone plug and an heating element that could reasonably last for years with a bit of maintenance just get chucked every few weeks. And realistically manufacture of threading insides a metal cylinder (or skip threading and just have it be a plug) and knurling on the end is diddly.

I do understand if cartos themselves are a revenue generator. Then you have to balance how much they bring in with making people ticked that they don't last as long as they want them to.

Hyde, you know what happened to the VK1,you have one.

Hahahaha! Well, I suppose that's somewhat true, but I'd rather have one made by V4L. I guess I just would like to know why it was never brought to life by V4L, since a prototype was obviously developed. The thing I have is somewhat disappointing and I feel it could had been done right, if again it was done by V4L...where it was conceived.

I suppose that's true. And yes, it is a step down from my loved 5v PT. I kind of regret getting it, but after finding out that its what the VK-1 was going to be, I had to try it.

What I really really want are the 5v batteries that Steve posted about a few months back. I'm guessing that's what you're talking about when you mentioned mods.

I know there was a discussion about a matte black battery, but I'd also love to see a rubberized or slightly grippy texture. I've dropped a few batteries due to the glossy finish (and clumsiness), so I'd pick up several non-slip batts if ever offered.

The diameter of a KR is pretty much the same as most pencils and pens, so you can go to nearly any bookstore/student store or office supply place and get a slip on slip off pencil/pen grip and it will work. It's going to increase the diameter but I think if they were to add a rubberized texture at the factory it would do the same. Some places sell a lanyard/pouch deal, which I've thought about getting. I wear an ID badge a lot so it wouldn't look all that goofy.

You do know that V4L has a lanyard?

No, I guess the only time I've ever looked at the accessories page was when I did my first order to see if there were any cases that would hold the regular batt and carto, so I never scrolled down that far. To be honest it's a little flashy for my tastes. I've seen plastic pen holders on lanyards that look kind of like something you'd find at an Army surplus store, look a lot like the matte black impact plastic/resin you find in a lot of handguns these days (like the Sigma SW.0V or Glock). They have a piano hinge on one side and kind of lock into place. I think there must be some kind of padded (maybe neoprene) lining. I've seen them online with map kits and maybe in the big Cabela's catalog.
