Can We Stop Recommending the Subtank/Atlantis to New Vapers Please? IT'S NOTHING LIKE A CIGARETTE

I've been seeing this more and more. "Oh get a Subtank, it has such great flavor!"
A newly ex-smoker doesn't want a Subtank. They want to emulate a cigarette. Even with the airflow turned down to a quarter of one hole on my Subtank it's still waaaay more airy than I wanted when I started vaping. I've come to find that the Atlantis/Subtank are basically worthless if you aren't lung inhaling. Most smokers don't lung inhale, ergo most recently quit smokers won't either.

Sure these new cloudomizers (see what I did there? I want credit for that) are cool and lots of fun, but the great majority of people coming blindly into vaping will not be interested in them. Had you handed me a Subtank when I started vaping I would have found it unusable, not just because of wattage issues but because of the airflow.

Just something to consider when giving out advice, solicited or otherwise.

This is from people that have been vaping for a while and have evolved beyond just wanting to mimic smoking.
Vaping does offer so much more - ( Granted at first many are after mimicking smoking) people are just advising for the future based on their path.
I haven't read of smoking being a hobby or people building and buying various smokes.

It's not really "bad" advice - it just depends on how you look at it. If a cheap cig-alike does it for someone and helps them switch from cigarettes to vapor, that's a good thing. But there is also a large proportion of people who want to quit cigarettes, want to embrace vaping, and just want something that works - that kinda puts you in the Subtank/Nautilus range, at a minimum. That's the level I had to reach before I could relax and know that I had something that wasn't going break, start dry hitting, start flooding, and leave me high and dry with nowhere else to go but back to cigarettes.

I maybe spent a week with cigalikes and they were completely useless, I immediately moved on to my Provari and Nautilus. Which was much more satisfying. I understand not trying to force an excessive change in behavior or habit, but I'm on the side of trying to find someone something that will last them, as opposed to telling them to use an Iclear that is going to make them turn blue because they can't breathe through the thing. What really needs to happen, is gauge people on an individual basis and determine what will suit them, whether that is a Subtank, a cigalike or an ego, etc.

Doesn't it all come down to customer service? A good salesman is going to listen to what the customer wants and go from there. I am so glad I chose the B&M I did when I first went from Blu to the Vision Spinner. She listened. We picked a nic level by vaping. Then picked a flavor. Then she explained my choices in devices and found what worked. There was no, "you need this" except to say I needed a charger. lol. If someone wants to jump right in and get a subtank or atlantis, that's their choice, but it should also be an informed choice. jmho

I quit smoking a month ago. I went from a pack and a half a day, to vaping cold turkey. When I started I had a markten. Didn't like it. Went to the tobacco shop and got an itaste clk and an aspire ets. Got some fluid, and that was it. Then I got 6 more tanks, more fluid. What I wanted was options. After that, I got an e-pipe to carry around because I wanted something small. Then I got an mvp cause I wanted more watts. And it looked like fun lol

So as a very recent ex smoker, thats how I went. I actually cleaned out a markten cart and put in some ejuice and loved it. Thats what pushed me to get the tank setup. Walking into the store, I wanted a 510 cigalike, but was swayed away by a customer and the store owner. My thought was I just want to use my own flavors. I'm really big on flavors, and somewhat picky. Not smoking cigs helps cause I can actually taste them now. Personally though I really liked the markten setup, but I didn't like the taste or amount of nicotine. I would probably use a cigalike if I had one but the pipe doss the job. It's nice having something small to throw in my pocket while I'm going out to work on my car or something.

I guess my point is, everyone will do it differently. My friend seems to be following my lead, buying whatever i buy, but he still smokes cigs and can't quit. It's probably because he's not making the changes he wants to make he's just buying stuff cause i am. My gf has completely different taste and she switched when I did and she's in a completely different direction and she's doing fine. So I don't know what to recommend to people besides try a little bit of everything until something works.

My only concern with sub ohms and high vapor production (like the Subtank) is you will get used to it and body will demand it then. I keep my high vapor production units for treats. They vape twice the amount of juice that my one ohm Kayfun Lite V2 does on a Mechanical Mod with a seven amp fuse. My thinking is if I always vape 30 or 40 watts and big clouds my body will always demand 30 or 40 watts and big clouds to be satisfied. This is my opinion and others may differ on their opinion. I am curious to hear what others think on this. CHEERS!

it all boils down to how we were trained in life..... you start a newbie ( whatever) on something simple easy, for example a tricycle and then progress on to a bike with training wheels and eventually a bike without training wheels.... then the car/motorbike.... some people get the SUV others get the Ferrari....

you normally dont start one in a Ferrari...

but imagine all the money one could save by not buying all the previous hardware before getting to what fits best....
