can you use protected batteries in a Chuck?

I read somewhere that Chucks can't use protected batteries? I'd really like to order a few chucks, but I am not sure if I want to risk it if I can't use protected batts. Probably a stupid question, but will someone please answer?

Of course they take protected batts. the protection is just a circuit failsafe in the batt that prevents overcharge.
It is not recommended that you use anything but protected batts....for your own safety.

Unless they are lifep04 then they don't need protected circuits.

Actually, prevents over charging, over discharging and short circuit. Lithium Ion batteries go bad pretty quick if they are discharged to low.
