Well, I just heard about e-cigarettes 2 days ago and have spent hours reading this forum tonight. I'm still totally confused.

So, I've established cigarettes are analogs.

Canadian government won't let us have nico based products.

I've read some giving up stories that sound great but not sure if they managed on nicotine based products or not.

I have no idea what to order when I look at the Canadian web-sites.

I smoke 10-12 DuMauriers per day,
As I work from home long battery life isn't an issue.
When I'm away from home I can usually manage until I get back. I always smoke outside. So far I've established manual is better than automatic.
To get started I would prefer tobacco flavour, even though I'm reading it isn't really recommended.
I don't really want to be fiddling about filling cartridges/atomizers etc. This is where I'm confused most for now. I don't understand what I need to order to say get me thru a month until I understand further about how this all works.

Any recommendations. The Canadian site has someone with a great list of suppliers I believe, but apparently I can't post there yet.

I'm in Guelph, Ontario if there is anyone near me that can be recommended.

Many thanks in advance.

Yeah it's daunting at first. Especially with all the stuff that is actually the same but you don't know that at first cause it's been rebranded/renamed by a diff company. I suggest an "eGo" starter kit, good long-lasting batteries plus "510" threading so many compatible atomizers or cartomizers out there. The only real fiddling you would have to do regularly is if you drip juice direct on a bare atomizer. Cartridges or cartomizers will hold a fair amount of juice and last some time before needing refill.

Someone from CA will be in to recommend a vendor before long surely. You can post in that subforum after 5 posts. So go thru some of the other threads here now and offer encouragement or whatever to get up to 5.

  • Reason: with the current situation in Canada we do not allow posts of lists of vendors that ship nicotine to

Cathie, there is a lot to learn, but you can do it and kick the habit, I smoked for 30 years, dunhills, marlboros, winstons etc. First you may want to look at the 6 part series on the ECF library, "The Wonderful World of Vaping, it tells you all about the ecig mechanics, hardware, parts, juice, models etc. Very good for beginner to learn, then pick a mentor that can guide you on your journey and help you avoid wasting money and time on products and juices that just don't work. I started with a simple 510 starter kit from Litecigsusa, and then the eGo for longer battery life and while I travel. Then I spent a lot on the Provari, it has variable voltage and gives more options on attys to use and power settings, atty readings, battery charge and voltage etc. It let me experiment to find what I liked for a vape and juices. I got tired of refilling cartridges adn cartomizers then decided to drip, it's easy and gives more vape and flavor. A few drops and you are good for the equivalent of a cigarette. Then I decided I don't want to carry a juice bottle when I travel or at the office and I tried a mod, like the Reo Mini or the Reo Grand, they are juice fed adn have stronger batteries adn depending on your habit can last all day or more. It depends on your tastes and what works for you, Welcome to ECF and ask any questions you may have!

Another thing, Litecigsusa, LibertyFlights, cignot, Freedomsmokeusa, Ikenvape, Tastyvapor, Madvapes, TRDVapor and SuperTmanufacturing are a few of the better suppliers you can count on for quality, serivice and fast delivery. Backwoods brew has great juice too! Libertyflights has a 20% coupon code in the upper left corner and selld the eGo or Riva or 510 starter kit for cheap!

To your original question, the part about sucess w/o nic, I can say I have seen several posts with people who don't use nic. I know that with cigarettes we were addicted to 3 things: nicotine, additives, and the hand to mouth ritual. I use nic so I can't help you with what you may need to deal with there, but maybe you could re-post asking for zero nic users help? At any rate, glad you are here! Keep reading and asking, it will all make sense soon.

Welcome Cathie. Looks like the others have already provided some great advice on reputable suppliers so I won't go there, but I just wanted to let you know that I am one of those who quit smoking six months ago by vaping 0mg juice. I never had any luck quitting cold turkey but somehow, vaping made it much easier. Just pick a quit time when you know the next couple of days are going to be low stress. I quit on a weekend, watched TV and napped for a couple of days while drinking a ton of water and vaping my fool head off. The water helps flush the nicotine and other junk out of your system and vaping satisfies the hand-to-mouth habit. In the end, i was pretty amazed at how easy it was compared to cold turkey. And by the way, I was a 30+ year, pack a day smoker. Good luck to you.

Cool lucky her.

I don't understand the situation in Canada. Nic juice is banned so even here we cant publicize vendors with nic and shipments at border can get seized by customs...but there are still vendors selling nic juice in the country? So they are just essentially flouting the law or is there something else I'm not aware of?

You could not be better located. Electronic-Cigz operated out of Guelph. Good products and prices and local to you. Win win..

Welcome to the forums. Looking forward to your progress and updates on the Canadian forum.

Thanks for the Guelph info. I ordered a Volt from the States but as it's been over a week I succumbed to to buying an Ego today from electronic-cigz and picked it up this afternoon. Nice guy and very helpful. I think I need a few days to get used to it all before I give any further opinions though!!!!
